Jeez, I must've played this mission 15-20 times before I finally got gold with the default A-wing. I kept coming up short in the accuracy department, number of kills, or completion time. The hardest part is getting 70% (!) on the accuracy, at least for me. And that annoying Interceptor that's determined to bring you down was a pain too. If anybody has any tips to make getting the gold on this a little easier, please speak up.
for accuracy, just don't use missiles on the turrets, use your lasers.
Thanks, but I've been doing that already. To be as accurate as possible, I'm now trying to focus on firing only the number of shots required to destroy the target. For the large containers, it only takes one shot. For the smaller ones on the upper platform level, it appears to take two shots. How many hits are needed to destroy the platform laser turrets?
NO! Keep firing at the containers! Just stop before they blow up!

3 per conatainer 2 if you have advanced lasers don't shoot anymore and take it off high res.
Well, I've earned gold two more times (once with 81% accuracy) over the weekend, so I'm moving on to Escape from Fest. I had to really conserve my shots and be as precise as possible. For the TIEs, I made sure I was right on their tail before firing my lasers so that I was almost certain to land a hit. And, if possible, I tried to save one seeker missile for that Interceptor who tries to nail you at the cloud city. Also, at the final platform (the one with the missile launchers), I ignored the missile launchers and laser turrets and went straight for the containers to end the missions as fast as possible.
(BTW, I have the PC version, so it doesn't suffer from the "ghost turret" problem that the N64 version has on this level.)
Thanks.
I've tried Escape from Fest twice so far, and Battle Above Taloraan was a piece of cake compared to this. Oh well, RS wouldn't be much fun if it was easy, right?
I haven't quite the time to work on getting all golds right now...

The N-1 really works good in this level.

...does any1 EVER die?...
actually using the N1 is technically considering cheating (at least in my opinion).
the reason is because you cannot earn or unlock the Naboo Starfighter normally in the game, unlike the Millenium Falcon and TIE Interceptor which you can earn normally just by mastering the game.
on the N64, using the N1 is definitely cheating since you can only attain it thru a passcode. on the PC, its a little less clear-cut since you dont get it thru a passcode, you get it through an update patch for the game. but still, either way, you can't earn the ship normally in the game so i would technically consider it to be cheating.
as long as you at least BEAT THE GAME without using it then in my opinion thats fine. if you use the N1 for Golds its not that big of a deal but it is still kind of taking the easy way out. however if you used the N1 to beat levels in the game your first time thru then I consider that kind of on the pathetic side.
i never cared about the n1 anyways, it came included in my rogue squadron 3d (without dloading any patches), it likes to crash the game whenever i use it...don't know why though. heh.
