For those who are unhappy with the default saber combat in JKA MP, you may find the following server settings useful.

g_saberRealisticCombat 1 (this must be set at server start time, you can not /rcon this command).

g_speed 275 (We are still playing with this value to find the best balance). Our goal is to match the "game pace" of JK2, a 275 value seems very close. We (The Bladeworks Network (@BWN)
[ http://www.bladeworks.net) ]) feel the increased speed returns a sense of urgency to JKA duels.

We are testing other undocumented settings with the intent of finding the right balance for advanced/tactical players and will keep the JKA community advised of our findings.

I thought saberrealisticcombat didn't work? Maybe I missed something.

Interesting idea, and best of luck to you!

Btw, try Debugmelee if you haven't already.. lots of fun. ; )

I am interested in how g_saberRealisticCombat may be non-functional? As you know it is difficult to get accurate measurements around saber hits/blocks/deflections but our inital testing suggests that g_saberRealisticCombat has the following affects:

Average match times seem to have decreased (more in line with JK2).

A skilled single saber user in blue stance seems to have a good chance of out fighting twin saber user.

There appears to be less blocking, those swings that do connect seem to be more consistent in the damage delt (depending on body part hit).

I do admit its possible that the above affects could be imagined based on randomness but I would be suprised if that tured out to be true.
