Some may think this is an odd topic, but seriously; many people believe that it starts on Sunday. Then how come Sunday is part of the weekend? Seriously, guys, list your opinions.

Well all the religions that consider Sunday the "seventh Day" (Christianity, Judaism, etc) would agree that it begins with Monday. Businesses too seem to agree with Monday.

Calendars seem to Sunday as the "first day" here in the US, but maybe that's just the calendar lobby. ; )

I'd go with Monday.

Yeah, Monday for me too. Why do some people say the week starts on a Sunday?

I can never figure that one out...

Monday, definitely. It is the day when work and school starts. The day I dread.
But get this…
Has anyone ever noticed that American calendars have Sunday in the first column, as opposed to France and Japan (maybe others?) who have Monday in the first column?
I found myself confused when I tried to use my Japanese planner...
I kept booking plans on Monday when I really meant to put them down on a Sunday.
it was horrible. ~ Just to let everyone know ~

Good points, guys, I'd never thought of trhe calendars thing. And on that sort of subject of different countries calendars, can someone clear this up for me: do world maps in the US have America in the middle?

Hay DaveMaul, about that US-in-the-middle- thing: the only world maps I've seen have had
Africa in the middle. I think its because they'd rather split the Pacific Ocean in two-its just a big body of water with nothing in it ('cept hawaii)...anyway, thats my opinion

Whoops, I feel like an idiot. Now that I think about it, the "seventh day" would have to be Saturday, because of the Jewish Sabbath and Seventh Day Adventists (who insist that Christians celebrate on Saturday instead of Sunday).

So in that case, the week would have to begin with Sunday, and that would agree with the calendar lobby. Can't believe I goofed that up.

I figured most people would begin the week with Monday (I do), because it's the first day you go back to work or school after relaxing on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

It's a bit confusing because the Sabbath is actually Friday at sundown. Of course most Christians aren't really celebrating the Jewish Sabbath (of the Hebrew Scriptures) but a "new" Sabbath based on the resurrection of Jesus, and the "new covenant" and thus they moved it to Sunday.

Sorry about the confusion!

Really? I'd heard on TV or something that European maps have Europe in the centre, USA maps have the USA in the centre, and Japanese maps have Japan in the centre. Something about how each country thinks they are better than the others. Jeez, what an ego.
