while browsing the 2da files (and discovering so many unsettling things, such as D&D spells LOL), I've come across iprp_damagetype.2da that lists Light and Dark side damage. are those actual damage type, or are only used for referece/regarding alignment?

Correct me if I'm wrong (which I probably am) but I believe it impacts on what Force power damage you do. If you're Dark Side, your Force Lightnining will be more powerful.

the alignement thing works differently. it affects only the power's costs, and is under forceadjust.2da

They are actually types of damage but I'm not sure they are used in the game normally, it may have been something that was cut. I know you can create Items that deal that sort of damage.

In Kotor 1 there is a saber crystal, solari I believe it was called, it adds modifiers to damage darkside if I remember correctly.

I think that was damage vs darkside, not darkside damage.
