However, mods that I worked on in collaboration with others are not available from me at this time. But again, big round of applause to ChAiNz.2da for reviving mods previously lost.

Fatten it up, add an Anakin Blade guard and maybe a couple red buttons.

I like the design accept for the emmitter. It just needs something to go along with the base of the hilt. What I mean is the top looks too simple compared to the bottom.
Also working on re-doing my How to make a Custom Saber Upgradeable tutorial.

That would be good. But you know your gonna have to make another for TSL :p

yea I know, lol, I'll probably update the one I made with pictures and jsut aadjust it before TSL comes out I guess.

I agree about the emitter too, but initially I was concerned about the poly count, but I have a good 150 to work with, so I'll update that too, I'm thinking about making a regular saber, doublesaber, and short saber, but they'll probably be either both for KotOR and TSL or just TSL it all depends, on how much time I have this week, I do still have school.

I think it looks cool near the bottom. The top, looks a bit thin, perhaps make it thicker, but that is just me. Cool design, I say go for it! If you finish it now, it will probably make it easier to put in TSL. :D

UPDATE:

I'll be working on the model, fixing the emitter, maybe add a few more switches and the like.

The tutorial is complete I sent a copy to T7, he'll edit whatever needs to be edited and then post it when/if it's ready.

I think it looks great as is, and if you start building the UV for it now (that's going to be 'fun'), you can have it skinned and ready for TSL ;)

Fantastic work!

Skinned Hilt - Not the Final Skin - img = 176kb (http://img151.exs.cx/img151/1259/skintemplate6gb.jpg)

Hopefully it is obvious that this is not how I want it to look in game.:nut:.:nut:.. The black wont be sooo heavily contrasted, so you'll actually be able to see some edges unlike my last hilt, the red will be the same but the gray areas are going to be a very shiny metal, I'm thinking ohh maybe svцsh's custom shader, CM_Manun.tga with his approval of course, but other than that this is basically what the saber will look like, I still haven't put any thought into the .uti or the stats, or the blade color so don't ask yet, but you can post suggestions :D. Oh and you probably shouldn't expect it to be released until this weekend, initially I was going to make a pack, but I'll hold off on a pack until I've thoroughly played through TSL.

If your searching for ideas for what color to make the blade you can do what Chainz.2da did and make 1 for each color. If your afraid of tackeling this I could lend a hand. Or your welcome to adapt my guardian of the force saber & crystal in my new mod, The re-texture of the existing skin that I used sucks anyways and it would be cool to have a awesome hilt such as that being spawned from inserting that crystal into a default hilt. But then I don't know how you feel about a purple core with a blue glow lightsaber.

I'm refering to my light purple handled saber not the Segan Wyndth adaptation that I did.(Those sabers don't suck)

@ Mono_Giganto

Green, I was thinking about that, I think that it would make a "good looking" match to the hilt, I was also thinking violet would look good, but I was also thinking yellow, because not many mods use yellow, that would be the only reason. What I'm wondering is... how does green have anything to do with monkeys Mono?.... j/k :nut:

@ Darkkender

The one reason I don't want to make all of the different colors for the saber is that it would take up too many model numbers i.e. w_lghtsbr_007, 008, 009, 010, etc. etc. you get the picture. I was thinking about making sort of 5 mods in one and just let the downloadee??? choose which color to install, but I'm too lazy so I'll probably stick with either green or violet.

Which brings me to my next question:

Vote:

Green
or
Violet

I like the hilt, very cool design with elements from a few film sabres in it ;) Between your two colors, I would say Green over Violet. It would fit the saber nicely. Although I would say Orange or perhaps Yellow just because as you said, it is not used much. Now if I could only figure out why my own saber is not working....:o

Green!

Hehe, been there done that with the saber model hording. It never occured to me that we have always had the simple route available. I just completely forgot till just now.

ie - Say your saber is green "w_lsabregren01.tga" If you wanted it a different color (say red), just extract the red tga "w_lsabrered01.tga" and re-name it to the gren01 filename (or whatever the exisitng color filename is).

:headbump: Man that would've saved me so much trouble ;)

I'm feeling like Jolee everyday...heheh

ChAiNz, believe it or not, right after I finshed that post asking about the saber colors I realized that I could just plant 6-7 saber colors with the same file name into the mod and have the downloadee choose, but I don't think it would have worked for your mod because you offer the player the choice of being able to use them all.

The upgrade crystal could be an ordinary "prism" allowing the reflection of all the colors, the explanation.... the crystal within this emits a color that varies with each different user and their affinity with the force.. not bad huh?

Anyway thanks to ChAiNz suggestion, you will now probably be able to use any color that you want, blue, red, green, violet, yellow, orange, cyan, pink? wink, wink, ChAiNz, umm and anything else I can come up with before the end of the week.

Estimated release.... 02/13/2005

Well, like I said...pink has already been done before, but I'm picky and just haaaaad to have it my way ;) In any case, it's royalty-free for anyone to use

For my saber screenshots, I'm usually on the Ebon Hawk. You can get decent close-ups depending on your angle against the wall. Flourish your saber and hit the spacebar to pause. Rotate your camera until you get a decent angle and 'snap' your screenshot. I've become quite fluent in hitting the spacebar roughly about 15 times in mid-flourish just to get that 'right' shot ;)

Quick question regarding the release of my final mod*.

Is it possible to have a custom saber have them name of the name of the PC, as in the dialouges that input the PC's name in the lines. i.e. " My Kotor Guy's Saber" I imagine that this would involve editing the "Localized name"(somthing like that), part of the .uti file to read something like "[Name]'s Saber". I think you guys know what I'm asking, if you need me to extrapolate, just ask ;)

*Last mod for KotOR 1 that is :nut:

Hey Mav, I have noticed this done in TSl so I looked and found this

<FullName>

Put that in front of the items name in the description Tab(Name Box) and it will hope fully work. It does for TSL so it might work for KotOR as well.

If it does work I just have to laugh. Just when I think I know all about uti editing I learn something new ;)

New TSL Mod Codenamed:
Project Prestige

Project's Modders = maverick187 & RedHawke

For those of you familiar with our last combined project for KotOR I "The Lightsaber Pack", then this will be very similar only on a much larger scale. The following features are planned (note = subject to change):

Approx. 18 new Sabers - the three different types of sabers for each Prestige Class + Malak model sabers for Weapon Master and Marauder
6 new Focusing Crystals - one for each class
At least 6 new Robes - for each class

Customization Details:

Every saber will have custom stats, custom hilt texture, and custom blade texture + custom icons (will include regular game color for those who don't like "two-tone or whacky" colors, but game color will be limited to one choice i.e. blue for weapon master, green for master etc.

The custom crystals will of course provide unique stats that are relavent for each class, as well as custom icons.

The robes will also have their own custom textures and custom icons + stats!

That is the tentative project outline, updates will be posted, and their is no estimated date for release yet i.e. no promises ;).

We do already have ideas for our textures, you are welcome and encouraged to post constructive suggestions for textures only right now when we release our tentative stats for the items, them we will welcome suggestions for those. However general questions and comments are always welcome :D.

Personally I highly encourage suggestions for the saber textures, both hilt and blade color :D it will help the mod come along faster.

Also, moderators, just a small request could you please change the thread title to something along the lines of "Mav's WIP for TSL", thanks.

I'm assuming the text color indicates the saber color.

if so maybe having an orange and purple saber for the sith sabers might be nice.(Please):p

beyond that everything else looks good.

Actually the text color was just to make it aesthetically pleasing for myself :p, but most of the sabers' blade colors will be two-toned, I have a purple-red saber for the sith sabers that I'm working on and I'm trying to come up with a good looking orange saber for the Watchman, orange is an unusually hard color to get to look good, the Weapon Master will probably have my sort of signature blue-green combo, and I haven't thought to much on the Jedi Master saber, but I wanted to try a green saber that wasn't as much two tone as slowy progressing from a bright green towards a darker green, but getting a slight yet noticeable transition is proving difficult, oh well I'll post some screenies when I'm ready. ;)

Update

Even though it doesn't seem liek this is drawing much interst
I am just posting this to let you all know the current progress on my part of the mod.

All of the sabers are technically "built", there are four unique blade textures, (all the sith sabers are the same), 18 sabers in all short, long, double for each crystal (Weapons Master and Marauder have a regular saber as the short saber and the longer malak model for the regular saber ;)), there are 6 power crystals and that's what I have so far, I will post screenies when they becom avaliable, I'm working on making unique crystal icons right now so that's it for now.
