If you're able to extract your save game from your XBox, zip all the files up and email them to me. I don't have an XBox.

From what I've seen, it looks like KSE won't need much modifcation to work with KotOR2 savegames.

Do you know who author of KSE is? ;)

Reminds me of this (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=141261#post1713771).

IF you can extract your saves from the xbox version of tsl, then I suggest you send them to DA MAN that gave meaning to savegame editing.

:Open2: You know the potential this could raise goes beyond just KSE with the savegame info off of the XBOX we could forward this on to Fred as well and have KOTOR Tool ready for the update as soon as KOTOR2 hits the stores for PC.:D

What T7 said.

The knowledge-base of this forum is largely PC based so if there are xbox afficianados who want to make a difference in this forum-- we need to know the directory structures on the xbox for one. Tutorials on how to extract files is another need. Then darkkender's idea could come true.

You'll need a mod chip to access the Xbox's internals and all that. If you do that never try to logon to Xbpx Live, for Microsoft has implemented things to that service when Halo 2 came out. So if you do this(get a mod chip and edit stuff)and go to Xbox Live, you'll be banned from that service. :(

Has anyone heard whether or not the Halo 2 Xbox - Live Ban also extends to those who've modded the Xbox w/o using a mod chip (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=215055)... ?

i know someone who tried to "softmod" his xbox and he said the same thing, that you shouldnt do that if you wanna use it.

which is kinda dumb, cause the xbox got so much potencial.. specially with the link to the internet.

TK, I can get you the saves you need. I have already looked at them and they are set up the exact same way KOTOR 1 was. There is little difference in the main structure of the PC files of kotor and the xbox except for a few files and of course the executable file so that will not be an issue. I used the ERF editor to mod the save to give me lots of xp and money but there are codes you need to resign an xbox save after it has been modified and of course they are not the same codes kotor 1 used. If there is anybody that understands hex real well and can decipher the algorithim used to generate the key I could get them the files they need to break the algorithm so that xbox users can use modded saves. If you want those files TK I will need your email address.

It looks to me like the .sig files are HMAC SHA-1 keyed files. They are 160-bit files (an SHA-1 characteristic). The key is probably a registration key that came with the game or is somehow unique to the Xbox in question.

Further update:

I'm researching what is required to generate the key for re-signing modified savegames. It is not trivial. I'll keep you informed.

Last night I tried a brute force tactic against the savegame.sav file using 5 of by best guesses... but to no avail. No results and the numbers keep chugging. This assumes a single keyed hash on straight data (no hashes of hashes).

The service searches for a mod chip so if you don't have one your ok. You should still search google for information about this,Tk.

KSE v2.2.0 now supports limited Xbox savegame editing. Add/delete of feats/powers/classes/inventory not supported.

You can have a switch on the front of the Xbox which turns off the Mod Chip. This obviously means you have to play originals only and can't do any of the other stuff the Mod Enables you to, but you can play Live
without risk of your Xbox being blocked from the Service.

Hmm, I'm curious here. Would an Action Replay save be salvagable for this exercise?

Near as I can tell it should be the same format as on the box hardware itself.

** Add

And if they work, I can provide some TSL xbx saves, (there's also a number of XAR saves available from codejunkies.com or gamefaqs.com if those are usable).

I've done a few modded test saves for a guy who does my testing. He has no modded xbox and he uses an AR... they work fine. AR saves are completely salvagable.

If anyone needs a save with something specific for info purposes, I can do it, no problem.

I downloaded the new KSE and did everything it says to do in the README file, but after editing the save and putting back on my Xbox, it says game save is damaged...This may be a pretty dumb question, but do I need to mod my Xbox for it to work?

EDIT: Hey StormSinger im looking forword to your new saves FOR KOTOR II, I heard you were able to equip the rocket launcher on the Main PC? Thats awesome.

@Montross87 -- just wondering what you tried to edit... there are some limitations due to the fact that only 6 of the 7 sig files could be regenerated. PM me with details if you could.

I have been wrestling with this very issue, and aparently there are thoes out there who have succeded at modifying the save game files for the xbox for KOTOR2!!!

I just purchased a "Pro Action Replay" yesterday, and there are numerous save game files with modified content that can be downloaded off the web and transfered to the xbox hard drive (via the pro-action replay device).

I myself am interested in modding my own KOTOR2 save game files, so a tutorial, or software to do so would be highly advantageous (I remember hearing of the complexities of modding the original xbox kotor sva egame files).

If anyone wants to look at a working already moded file, you can get one here:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/save/920194.html)

If this helps the PC guys get a head start, then all the better.

AXE!

Hello, when do you think KOTOR2 game saves can be edited?

Certain aspects of the Game Save can be edited as it says in the Readme. I personally had trouble. I transfered the files no problems via Flash FXP. I only changed the Values which the Readme said were OK. Yet KOTOR still reported it as a corrupt save, which was annoying. Is there a limit to how much EXP you can give yourself? I gave myself 900000Exp. I changed atributed and Skills of the PC. No NPCs. That's all I changed. I recieved two error messages when I start up KSE, is that normal?

The original KOTOR had a level cap of 20, perhaps the EXP you entered exceeeds the maximum?

Just to clarify we are talking about KOTOR and not KOTOR 2 yes?

So far, at least one individual at www.codejunkies.com) has sucessfully moded KOTOR2 save game files... I wonder how?

Thanks RedHawke.

@keshire: Yes you can modify everything with a hexeditor if you like, but you will need to resign the savegame. KSE can modify KotOR2 games no problem BUT! it cannot resign them so you are left with a corrupted savegame.

@waterhammer: I still need the AuthKey for KotOR2. No AuthKey means no resigning. Unfortunately the one person who knows how to get it at xbox-saves.com is too busy to answer my PMs.

Yes via Internet Link (whichever) and A router + an modded xbox chip, and withdraw the savegames to your computer, compiling your savegames to the xbox save games and put them back to the folder you found them in. which will need a coder like tk..
Coding for Xbox can be very hard and dont try yourself unless you have a clue about any scripting/compiling at all , you may crash your game and Xbox, do you want that for a simple little game? ( not simple its a GODs game by the way so is SWG)
Observ : Do not use Xbox live when modded chip is turned on
Your xbox will be deleted and you have to pay about 100$ or more.. so with caution people!!

Actually you Xbox will still function as normal but will be unable to access Xbox Live again. That is, unless you get hold of the HD Key of another Xbox which never wants to go online and enter it into your Xbox.
