I don't know if this is where I should ask this but anyway...

Could someone plz tell me what a shader is and what it can be used for, thanx.

A shader is a configuration script, like a small program, that is used to modify textures, surface parameters and even modify the form of objects.

For the JA and the Q3 engine series games, shaders are relatively short text scripts, with the suffix .shader.
