Just out of curiosty, how many of you can actually run the game with no problems, both SP and MP. I for one can run MP fine but experience extreme lag in SP.

Yes, I can run both SP AND MP fine

System Specs

Rig 1:
AMD XP1900
768 MB PC-2700 DDR RAM
80GB Seagate Barracuda
Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4800SE Golden Sample
Sound Blaster X-Gamer Live!
52X Burner
4x DVD Burner

But What I did for SP was that I turned off Force Feedback, Dynamic glow, and set my resolution @ 800x600 at 16-bit texture running in Bilinear mode, and manually executed the set com_HunkMegs 384 command and upped the capped FPS to 200 by using the set com_MaxFPS 200

Everything runs as smooth as a whistle. The game has never crashed on me. I find a lot more stable than JO...

The first couple days one or two of the cinematics jittered a little, but that's it. Works fine for me.

You guys misunderstand me. "Properly" as in the way it should be expected on your type of machine. I mean if you have a GeForce 4 Ti or an ATI Radeon 9800, you shouldn't have to running things on bilnear or 16 bit textures. That doesn't constitute proper in my book.

We'll have to wait for a patch... oh well.

I haven't tried MP yet, but SP works fine.

I did get the "stuck door bug" on one mission and another one later in the game when I tried upgrading my force powers. Seems I was maxed out already. By selecting the Dark Force powers I was able to bypass it...

Anyway, all is well here! :)

Well, I was easily able to get 50-60FPS without changing those settings, cept the Force Feedback which should be off by default. I just do those to get the most out of performance. like 120+ FPS

I can run it just fine, as well as JK2 (with maybe 5 fps difference).

It took a lot of tweaking, but it's finally gotten to that point.

its weird... I can run MP at 50 fps, high textures, high geometry but can only run SP at 30 fps on low if I'm lucky. There is either something wrong with my computer or the game methinks.

Well, I couldn't get SP to run for the first day. For some reason, SP wouldn't read on the CD. I downloaded the no CD patch for SP and it works fine now.

Runs wonderful, 150+ FPS! SP & MP!

If you want better FPS, type

com_maxFPS 200

and

r_dynamicglow 0

My system runs it great at 1024x768 everything at high (not Higher) in both MP and SP. Only lag I saw was in the jedi tomb sp level and for only a few seconds.

My system:

1 GHz P3
64mb Geforce 4 MX
448 mb ram
Old ass hard drives. (As in not 5200 RPM or whatever the standard is now)
Win XP Pro

OMG, I have a P4 1.6 GHz 512 mb ram and a GeForce MX 440 SE and I can't run SP at lowest settings. LOL

MP runs fine however. Highest settings etc.

(i have the demo)

This is weird... I have pIII 1.2 ghz, 128 SDRAM, Intel 810e (onboard video card) and i get good FPS (at least for my system, 20-30 FPS) It runs smoother than jk2... for some reason. I am a bit worried about the full version, because ive heard about a lot of errors (like the stuff in this thread) If a high end system cant run it, why would a system that doesnt have enough ram run it? Ill just have to wait and see...

I bought a copy, and single player works great. It's just that every time I attempt to connect to a multiplayer server, something goes wrong, although the most common error is invalid game folder, which makes no sense as I installed and went to go play. Is there a patch I'm missing?

the invalid game folder error represents the obvious truth that there are still many illegal beta users that are running servers, and some of them get listed into the master server, and the eroor represents the incompatibility of the two.

KAIA, is that with Force Feedback turned off in the control options? If not, turn it off and see how it runs.. Also, try this

in the console, type set com_MaxFPS 200

that will uncap the max FPS that JA will be able to show.

Andy867, heh... I believe it is with Force Feedback off (as I don't play with a FF mouse or joystick). But in all honesty I don't really care, since my eyes can't tell the difference over 30 fps (I doubt yours can too unless you're superhuman).

I'm as pleased as punch with my setup as is - everything looks gorgeous and gameplay is zippy fast.

Actually, by default, Force Feedback is ENABLED, which significantly slows down performance, and that performance will come in handy in SP when you have a LOT of entities going on the screen.

Actually, its a custom computer that I built from scratch...
AMD XP 1900
768 MB DDR PC-2700 RAM
80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM
Gainward GeForce Ti4800 SE Golden Sample (upgrading it soon possibly)
Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer
17" Monitor

I just do regular maintenance on it and keep it up to speed in drivers.

These games need to actually have decent servers that don't lag out 56kers. That's the whole problem.

That and they're probably WinXP on these servers too *shudder*

Chewy289, you do appreciate that by turning off dynamic glow, you're missing out on some of the nicer visual enhancements in Academy? Also, though on paper a frame-rate of 115 might sound spiffy, you should be aware that the human eye can't honestly discern a difference much past 30 (when you go to the movies, the film is being projected at 24 frames per second; NTSC television is 30 frames per second or 60 fields per second).

The point? You're sacrificing better looking graphics for the sake of a meaningless fps boost. If I were you, I'd leave r_dynamicglow on. So long as your original average was around 50, it's meaningless to degrade visuals.

Just my humble opinion. :)

Also, I'm not 100% on this, but tinkering with com_maxfps may result in packet loss between you and MP servers. I'd leave that at its default as well.
