Im fairly new to the SWG scene however not new to MMORPG one. I played UO for waaaaaaaaay to long. Anyways im prob. asking a question that has A: already been answred B: Cannot be answered or C: Im on the wrong board. Well here it is: I have found out that we can learn 3.5 professions, so what exactly does that mean? What is classified as a "profession"? Can a be a bounty hunter, a farmer, and a dancer, or some aspects of these? Im wondering how this works because im in the process of trying to figure out what i want to be in the SWG universe and i want to have a good idea that way i can get a jump on it as soon as SWG opens.

Thanks

Well, unfortunately, your question can only be partially answered in this, we are unsure. We do know that you can master three professions. The question is, three whole professions or just one sphere of the profession. Also, are expert professions different, ie. Do they use more points? Basically, assume two whole starting professions and one advanced or expert profession. I am sure I have just confused you, btu I just got out of work and my brain is fried. Speaking of.......*passes out on couch*

Well, first of all:

Welcome to the SWGalaxies.Net Forums!!! :)

I'm Jan Gaarni, XO of the Official Welcomming Committee and Moderator of this place.

Be sure to check out the Read This First (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=71572) thread at the top of this forum, as it contains some guidelines on how to behave, if you haven't all ready. :)

Most here are friendly and the aggression level is far from what you will find in the Official SWG Boards (http://www.starwarsgalaxies.com), so I'm sure you will like it here.

Please feel free to stay as long as you want. :)

And have some chocolate covered gnorts (http://www.swgalaxies.net/extras/chocognort.jpg). :D Complementary Juztyn. :p

Also be sure to check out the SWGalaxies.Net (http://www.swgalaxies.net) site which is connected to these forums. :)

We hope you enjoy your stay here on the SWGalaxies.Net Forums. :)

Secondly:
There are professions, and then there are hybrid professions.
Bounty Hunter I beleive is one such hybrid profession, meaning that you would need 2, or more, other professions before you can be "classified" as a bounty hunter.

Since the game is still some time away to be released, and SWGalaxies.Net (http://www.swgalaxies.net) has this great library on this game, I suggest you take a look at the search feature, where you can literally find everything the Devs has revealed about the game, and more. :)

I took the liberty to making a search for all things profession related, or atleast have the word profession in it, here (http://www.swgalaxies.net/search/index.php?results=1&searchNews=1&searchUFAQ=1&searchFAQ=1&searchDev=1&search=Professions). :D

Yes, I realise that's alot to read, but you can use the search function yourself aswell, and type in a more spesific source you want to learn more about.

Don't you just love SWGalaxies.Net's (http://www.swgalaxies.net) comprehensive library and it's search feature? :D

Im not sure thats right there Jan...
let me try and explain in my way.. maybe with us explaining it all.. he can find the middle way.

There are in fact 3 types of professions

Starter
elite
hybrid

(atleast Matt-windu explained to me like that... or was it Juztyn.. nevermind :D)

You start out with one starter.. you take on skills. and soon you will be master of somestarter profession. then you are able to learn on to an elite profession. now to get a hybrid profession you need to combine some ELITE professions to get it.

Thats is what i think of the profession system.

i think, that you start out the main group of proffesions and you can know a little bit of all proffesions in that group (Artisian, Brwaler, ect), more of some, or all of one, if you have a little bit of one you "forget" (get rid of your skill points in that area) and then you can "learn" the rest of that one proffesion
