Does anyone know if this game can still be purchased retail without going through mail order?

It's not likely, unless you're near a store with an extensive bargain bin, or a great selection of games in general. Is there a specific reason why you can't order it online? There are still many online retailers that carry it for 10 bucks.

In the shop in my town, I've discovered an Lucasarts classic pack. It contains four games including Grim Fandango.

It's still all over the place here. A veritable glut of GF. EB, Target, K-Mart, everywhere.
