i got the bell to rise but the guy won't hit it

I don't exactly know how it works, just read the bell and indy says "Ring for the master. I always thought thiese bells were rung at" then something that sounds like "moiama" and then "but i can't wait till noon" or something...
I just tried pulling the lever with the statue picture behind it multiple times, then it worked.... i guess it was at around 3 O'clock or somethin'
