I have done some searching and haven't been able to find anywhere this question has been answered, but I could be wrong, so here goes:

Is there any correlation between the OST tracks to Grim Fandango ("Big Band, BeBop, and Bones") and the CD rips from ScummRev?

I'm trying to build my own OST, so what I'm looking for, is something like this (numbers I believe are quite wrong in this example):

1. Casino Calavera - 1001 (or whatever # correlates)
2. Swanky Maximino - 1020 (etc.)

I know some are self-explanatory like:

- 3. "Smooth Hector" - 1125a
- 5. "Hector Steps Out" - 1125
- 20. "Gambling Glottis - 1162
- 32. "Bone Wagon" - 1074
etc.

Some however are less-so, that I can tell, and I don't have all my data right now, but I know one that isn't so apparent:

"Don Copal"

Is it legal to rip the songs from the GF-CD? 'Cause you can find the most of the soundtrack on it?

Yeah, I think it's legal, but that there's a copyright notice in every mp3 file... Not sure...

I think since you bought the game, you are allowed to do anything with it, exept make copies for someone else.

yeah, i'd go with that, if you've bought the CD then you're entitled to do what you want with it, including ripping some of the tunes off of it for your OWN use, its when you start selling stuff on that it starts to get sticky.

I think thats the case anyway. you might have to check if you're into all that legal stuff...;)

Actually, you may even make copies of the game for your own use. Quite useful if you don't want to risk damaging your original discs.
That's why pages like Gamecopyworld can stay online and open.

Thanks for the soundtrack listing - I was able to get most of that off the web, but it never hurts to announce it.

The one that was really throwing me off was "Casino Calavera" and "Swanky Maximino." I also know that waa.mixnmojo.com has a file called "grim.lar" under goodies that is supposed to be an annotated list of the Grim Fandango game. However, this file (and several others frankly) are in an FTP directory, that the House of Mojo (www.mixnmojo.com) has locked up and inaccessible, for whatever reason - it's listed for available free download, but locked up so you can't.... doesn't make sense to me either.

It's definitely legal to rip songs from the CD - You purchased the CD, and that means you own it and any information that happens to be on there is yours. As long as you don't distribut the CD, then you can still go to heaven.

Besides, sites on the Lucas-Friendly International House of Mojo (http://www.mixnmojo.com) actively distribute sound files, to people who may not even have the game, and the Lucas Legal team (The Decistinators) haven't told them to cease this serving...yet.
