i am 28 yrs old and spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps. and ratmjedi i advise you to really think about joining up because it's not a cakewalk like the recruiters like to tell you, you DO NOT get to choose the field in which you will be after basic like the say you do and also it's a very very tough boot camp since i know you'll be going to Camp Pendleton since you live west of the Mississippi river so if you do decide to join be aware of "The Grim Reaper" it's a heck of a hike and you have to do it with full gear and weapon and ammo which will weigh approximately 150 lbs on your back and it is almost a 90 degree slope which you have to ascend and if you don't you will not graduate boot camp and that my friend is not a fun experience.

My Recruting station is about 30 minutes from Pendleton so every Saturday we P.T. and once a month we have a debt funtion. We get to actually go to Pendleton and MCRD and do some of the stuff that we are going to do when we go to boot. I have gone rappeling, ran the REAPER (Which I think was the hardest run that I have ever had), done the obstacle course, water surivial training, and going paintballing.
I know what I am getting myself into. I have about 5 friends that have already gone through boot camp and I know that I want to do it. That is why I am waiting till Jan. 04 to go so that way I have 6 months to condition and get my body ready for what I am going to be doing there. I also am very smart so I know that it they do plan to change my MOS that they aren't going to give me a crummy job cause I had a very high score on the ASVAB.
Thanks for atleast warning me. I have had it done numerous times and I know that it isn't go be a walk through the park.

That's what people who I know had to read. I got a 3 on the European test. One pieve of advice is just study alot about the major stuff that your teacher quizzes you on. Also make sure that you can dicuss anything for when you get your DBQ's. ;)
