Yep..its true....sorta..

anyone who can get their hands on the CD demo that was briefly released can do a simple search thru the subtitle text files and find some..uh...innapropriate banter that apparently was tossed around before the game was final....

i'll dig up the ol demo CD and get an exact version # and file name for ya..and even give you instructions on how to find it ;)

...and trust me..this is PURE profanity...not suggestive...

Quote the South Park movie: "What's wrong with saying ****? It never hurt anyone. **** ****ity **** **** ****!"

Still, if you could tell me where to catch even a glipse of FT demo goodness, lemme know ASAP.

thx

...here we goooo...

ok..found the damn CD...

its on a CD called "Total Chaos"..its full of demos for various games:::

Sentoo
Desert Storm Command
Brudal Baddle
Cyber Dogs
Novastorm
Traffic Dept. 2192
One Must Fall
Body Blows
Sango Fighter
Operation Body count

and finally::

Dark Forces (the main attraction of the demo CD)
and Full Throttle

It was released by a company called "quantum axcess" back in 1995.. not sure if they still exist (probobly not) but if you are curious::

Quantum Axcess
240 North Fifth Street, suite 330
Columbus, Ohio 43215
FAX - 614-228-5284

so yeah....back to the topic at hand...this profanity::

open the CD and go to x:\LUCASART\FTDEMO ("x" of course being your CD drive)...

go to the "data" directory::

There are 27 files in there..but 2 of them are "txt" files...which are the files that contain the subtitle text...

One of them..clean as could be..but with the following dialoug which..as far as i know..was never used::

#1
...and I may lie...
#2
...and I may rough some people up from
#3
...but it's all for a good cause--
#4
Self preservation.
#5
You don't have much choice when trouble's riding your back
#6
Sometimes you outsmart it...
#7
Sometimes you out-fight it...
#8
...and sometimes you just have to out-run it...
#9
...full throttle.
#10
...let the throttle out and fly.

neat eh??

open the other one..hehe...

#1
Ripburger, you're dumber than dirt!
#2
#$^ you corley!

(i censored the word of course)

oooooOOooo....its there..burned on this CD which was obviously distributed nationally..theres more..but you'll have to dig that up for yourself ..hehe

...interesting side note...the other 25 files in the data directory are all seperated segments from the game (i believe the demo had 3 playable parts from the actual game)...disecting these has yielded some interesting results ;)

Almost forgot...

There is also an interesting "bat" file there...opening it up to see what it does..i found::

xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1008.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1009.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1010.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1011.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1012.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1013.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1014.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1015.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1017.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg
xcopy \throttle\voice\vista.33\1016.voc \throttle\video\jumpgorg

....hehe...

AND....opening up the VIDEO folder...you will find flc (autodesk animator files) versions of cutscenes from the game..most of which were not used in the demo..this CD is full of treasures...i believe it was the only distributed demo of full throttle..and it was OBVIOUSLY not intended for release in the status that its in...sloppy...un-checked..etc....

Fun. :)

The speech files for your first extract can be found on the real FT CD using SCUMM Revisited - they're near the top of the list, AFAIR. I don't know where they're used in-game either.

Also, you must find a way to get this CD online.

The company actually still exists::

http://www.quantumaxcess.com/)

...doing what they did back in 95...basically selling CDs with shareware on em...

but yeah...not sure how much luck you'll have getting this CD..but i'll keep searching...

Handy. Very fun too, but there is one thing about all this that troubles me... HOW MUCH FREE TIME DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE??? I mean, all this stuff is interesting and kinda fun to read, but why do you spend your time looking through a 8 year old disk? oh well. enjoy.

OK, I give. Plus, it's not so bad if you found it seven years ago. Still, this raises the new question. Why did you wait so long to bring this to our attention?

2 reaons:::

When i FIRST found it 7 years ago..there really werent any forums to post it on (lack of internet kinda secured that)

...second...

I sorta forgot about it until i re-ignited my passion for the old LEC adventure games ;)

Let's not forget this little word. Yes, it is found in the Bible, and yes, it is allowed on American television, but it's still profanity and FT is one of the few, if not the only, LEC adventures to use it as an explicitive.

I can't recall if its found elsewhere in the game or not, but hit the Knife Trick Easter egg (ask Emmet 20 times if you can play, fyi) and stab Ben's hand a few times. He'll certainly spit it out for you.

Full Throttle is also one of, if not the only LEC Production to feature violent murder.

Aw, come on now, there's more profanity in Leisure Suite Larry. If Full Throttle wouldn't have been family-oriented, it would be the most foul, violent, naughty (you name it...) adventure game that ever existed, because, believe you me, a biker's lyfestyle is filled with more action than a stunt-double (or a pornstar) would ever get.
Yes, I know we're not talking about real life, but I just wanted to get that out of my system... sorry.
