Today at my local EB I was buying a magazine that had an article about AMD on the cover. The clerk said he read something today about how AMD is gonna stop making processors. Did anyone else here about this?
Check out this (

AMD isn't dropping from the CPU market - its expanding its products into other markets.
Darth Simpson. :)
Now there's a name I haven't seen in awhile.
Staying or passing by? :D
Welcome back. :)
Thanks. =)
I'll try to stop by a bit more often from now on. :D

I never heard such a thing and besides... I would truly think that it would be a mistake to drop out now when they seem to be kicking Intel's ass now. Especially with their AMD Duron like of processors ;).
Actually, they're not kicking Intel's ass. They are struggling to compete with them, that's why they are expanding into other markets.
Well, AMD isn't as good as Intel, but it is alot more affordable...
I've heard something about AMD Athlon 64 Processors or something which could very well make Duron processors obsolete and make AMD Athlon XP processors cheaper... Supposedly anyway.
I think you mean 64-bit. They call it Hammer or something.

I didn't hear that bit of info.. ;)
The marketing war between AMD and Intel is being won by Intel recently. AMD are, as has been said, branching out into different areas of development. However, AMD did try to make its processors more attractive to a select section of the market, and this didnt go as planned. Dont know where this rumor came from about AMD stopping making processors, first time i have heard it.
was there a pun intened imperial?
