I recently borrowed my friends version of the dig... unfortunately he failed to mention that it was in spanish...
does anybody know if or how there is a way to get the spanish subtitles back to english ones?

You have to buy or borrow an english version, or disable the subtitles.
They game is dubbed, so here's a possible solution:
Copy every file except language.bun (or something like that) to your hard disk and burn it again. You can use a rewritable disk to test it.
Or
Get that file from the english version.
Won't that be the same as disabling the subtitles?
