At first I want to tell you that I'm a kind of fan concerning the old (and nice) Dos-games, especially Monkey Island and Simon the sorcerer.

With my current computer, an AMD Athlon 1000 Mhz, there's no chance for playing all those nice games... so i decided to build up an old DOS-Computer just for those games.

The oldest PC I could configure was a P133 downratet on 75Mhz with 32 Mb of RAM and a Jazz16 SB-compatible soundcard. With this Computer I enjoy Simon the Sorcerer 1+2 (they work fine!), but Monkey Island 1 doesn't work properly. Those little tools which reduce the system-speed don't work with my Pentium, so it's only possible to play with the internal speaker.

If I start MI in normal-mode (monkey.exe), the sound scratches in a bad way, it sounds like 200x the normal Sound-speed :P
I own a MI-Version released by "Pearl Dos-Trend Bestseller-games" and concerning the sound-config, my config.sys says: "P220 I5 D1 E5 T330 Q2".

What can I do ??? Please help!

If you use Windows2000 or XP on your Athlon machine you can use LEC Quick And Easy (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79875) to play old Lucasarts games.

Even if you dont you can still use ScummVM (http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/) if you need a frontend for it you could use mine ScummVM Quick And Easy (http://www.gorman.btinternet.co.uk/ScummVMQuickAndEasy1.1.zip)

Right, thats the pimping over now to see about fixing your actual problem.
I'm presuming here that you have one of the original versions of MI1 not one of the cd versions with audio as cd tracks.
Try starting with command line 'monkey1.exe v a' or similar. Theres not an awful lot I can do to help you here since things are dependant on your sound driver.
Type 'monkey.exe /?' to see the command line options and try starting with different combinations of them.
Its all a bit of a cop-out really, just play it with ScummVM on your new computer.
