i wrote this a few days ago on a review for swbg on ebworld.com (electronics boutique). i gave the game a 4 out 5 rating just b/c i'm biased when it comes to lucasarts games and that i haven't played the game yet. anyhow this is what i wrote. feel free to respond b/c i put some questions in this comment:

It was said that Lucasarts "struck out" with their first two aspirations of RTS games. However, I've seen the LATEST screenshots of the game and it looks as if this game may fall along the lines of greats such as starcraft and AoE. The detail looks great, and finally the SCALING of units has been rectified. However, will this game flow with the intricate storyline of the star wars saga? Alot of attention has been paid to detail, but I hope that doesn't transgress into a lack of a storyline in this game. Also, the introduction of never before seen units (such as water vehicles) may hurt the game. The empire has boats? Hopefully their role will have some significance in the game's story to be accepted by gamers alike. Finally, will the units move and act as they were in the movies (will darth maul have martial art capabilities, etc.)?

There have always been aquatic units in teh Star Wars Universe, they simply weren't prominant. A good example is the Amphibian. You might not have heard of this, but it does exist. I don't think that they'll have trouble fitting everything in nicely. Alos, the storylines will be based on the movies and books, and follow the "historical" battles of teh worlds. Such as teh Alliances fight for Freedom and the Naboo's struggle against the Trade Federation. I believe that this will turn out nicely, but only time will truly tell.

thanks tie
i didn't mean that in offense to the game, just questioned the validity of inputting units such as those. hey, i'm all for sea battles! adds an extra dimension to strategy. looks like this game is combining the best of both worlds with AoE and starcraft. can't wait....

I also saw a thing called a TIE crawler. I saw it in one of my friends many comic books (I dont bother getting them, but since it was starwars i had to read it). I dont quite remember which one but I know you see one while the NR attack Corruscant.

It is like a TIE + TANK. Pretty cool. But not very useful since there is the AT-AT, AT-ST, AT-PT, etc

Yeah, i've seen it in my handy "Guide to Vehicle and Vessels." It's pretty neat, but as you said...useless.

You guys know there are a whole series of those books, The Essential Guides. There are about 7 books: Vessels and Vehicles, Characters, Chronology, Aliens, Weapons and Technology, Planets and Moons, and Droids. these are all great refrence books, but some of them are seriously outdated. You can find them at Borders, Barnes and Noble, or your local bookstore. Just FYI.:D

you should... :p
but anyways: i think trivia are a bit...sad. would you really consider knowing Han Solo's shoesize to be valuable in ANY way ? my motto is: enjoy the movies. don't go greeting each other with 'May the Force.. etc.' i saw Ewan McGregor comment on that a while back in a BBC-documentary about The Phantom Menace. he basically said such people were 'not quite there...'

so if i would talk about trivia, i'd put in as much irony as i could.

there. i even explained it.

You maybe could win alot of money if you knew random facts about Star Wars. With all the trivia games out there, you just never know......
