ok, that's what i thought. It would be cool to have a map with several different climates on it though.

maybe on giant sized maps ?

which leads to another question: do you think mapsizes will be the same or are we going to see MEGA-maps ??

yeah, that's what i'm afraid of too. i would really like to see map-scale increased to being incredibly, insanely big. now that's my idea of a fun 16-player battle !! (just kidding there about the 16-player thing, folks)

I find it much less fun when your bases are far apart. When your fighting for space to expand your base, that when the real and incessant fighting begins. :D

the fun in being far apart is that you're almost guaranteed big-scale battles. everyone has time to build an army, instead of being rushed and eliminated early on.

well, not everyone is close together, so you can take time to build big armies, but you should hav to fight with someone, not jsut sit on your forces.

you'd have to fight eventually.... besides, with air-units you'll get to another base mighty fast, don't you think ?

not neccessarily. air units probaby won't be a factor early in the game.

true, but judging from the building / advancement speed in AOK, i'd reckon you could get air-units within 20 minutes.

That's enough time for alot to happen.

Yep... and I think you get air defense in the first age, i'm not sure though

it doesn't have to happen in the first age. what i'm saying is that in AOK people made it a sport to advance through the different ages as soon as possible. They would be in the third age (translated into 'Tech Levels' in GB) within 20 minutes, so they could have air-units pretty fast.

remember, the first few minutes are spent exploring and getting your economy up to speed. if you don't do that, you can't support an army.

if it's instant-action you want, GB will have a Deathmatch feature, that gives you stacks of resources, puts you in the final Tech Level with all units available and lets you get to it from the first second..

that way we can have huge AT-AT battles..

You can very effectively defend or attack in the first age - but you can also skip to the 3rd age and use the powerful units there.

This is from the mr. fixit preview. ;)

well that answers both questions, but you really have to read between the lines. defending very effectively in the first age means either getting air-defence towers early on or it means you get fighters right away. i'd say it's both, but the first fighters should be reconnaissance craft..

"fighters hit the skys in the third age"

I'll bet you have the ability to build air towers in the first age, but the would be useless until someone got to the third ;)

yes, you would need air defenses in the first age coz your opponent could be way ahead of you in terms of ages.

Leon, how do you advance to a new age?
