"Quanti Canicula Ille In Fenestra"
is a Latin phrase
(and a poor one at that)
off the Coat of Arms
for the City of Ankh-Morpork,
the Discworld's largest city.
It's coompanion quote (or Motto) is:
"Merus In Pectum Et In Aquam."

The younger of the two mottoes,
"Merus In Pectum Et In Aquam."
which translates to
'Pure in Mind and Water'
was devised by a rather high minded
committe during the early days
of the first Republic,
and is considered a jolly good joke
by all denizens of of Ankh-Morpork.

The older and strangely
more popular motto is:
"Quanti Canicula Ille In Fenestra"
which translates to
'How Much Is That Small Dog
in The Window?'
this mottoes origin is the subject
of urban legend but it can be traced
back as is the case of so many of the
cities oddities to the reign of
King Ludwig the Tree.

score now stands thus.
