Shakespeare said
"A Rose by any other name..."
well what if Will was shall we say
Botanically impaired?
perhaps he saw a petunia
and he mistook it for a rose.
and what he meant to say was
a petunia by any other name...
yet history and litterature
and the common vernacular has
co-opted it and the phrase
is now rose.
what I am getting at
working up to it is this:

pop quiz;
what is the name of the dentist elf
in the Rankin & Bass
Christmas classic
"Rodoulph the Red Nosed Reindeer?"

I ask this because for years
friends and I have called him
....
and I have heard comedians joke
and call him ...
(same three dots as above)
and yet recently Hallmark
put out toys and stuff
of Rodoulph and company
and they called ...
::: instead.
and I looked and said :::
no it is ...
that is a missprint
and I researched it
and I even went to
Ranklin & bass's website
and I found they are very ticked off
because they get huge amounts
of fan mail asking the same thing.
the elf who wants to be a dentist
is called ... not :::
and R&B's response is
well we can not help it if all
of you people heard the name wrong.

Well I think it is not millons
of people around the world's fault
if all of the voice actors
in the classic animated cartoon
DID NOT ENUNCIATE CLEAR ENOUGH.
I mean getting back to the bard
he may have meant pansy
but we as a collective whole
say otherwise.

I think Hallmark and Ranklin & Bass
can not stand to admit that a typo
was made packaging the product
and they refuse to recall and correct
the slip up.

I also want ... name to be officially
sanctioned. and to forget about this :::
business.

anyway pop culture quiz
what was the elf's name
who wanted to be a dentist?

as you can see I did not say the name
I want to see how many of you also
think his name is ... not :::

Was it Marlowe? Don Quixote would know, I'm sure of it.

Oh wait, this isn't one of your MENSA games.
