Aren't the Snowspeeder the Rebel's special unit?

Yes they are and they have an advantage against mechs, also.

They are good against mechs unlike other air units which are weak against them.

They probably won't be very effective against other air units. I remeber reading something where it stated that the snowspeeder was not a true starship but a modified repulsor lift (think episode I podrace scene where Ani goes flying off the service ramp). so I'd venture to say it will be a air-to-ground attacker with a +attack modifier to At-Ats :D

I think many will play as rebels because they are the Rebel Alliance. Many people like being the good guys...

Question: Will snowspeeders be the nearly only effective unit against AT-AT's? As we all know, those things should be damn near indestructable. I don't know if they will be, does anyone know how many HP's they have?

Snowspeeders are good against mechs, not just AT-AT's. And I'm sure there's another reg unit that destroys mechs. If there wasen't, the game would be really imbalanced.

That's my whole wonder. In real life, the AT-ATs are damn near indestructible, so how are they gonna handle destorying them in the game?

Perhaps a certain heavy artillery cannon, or something to that effect?

I wouldn't call them indestructable...you just need something strong enough to knock 'em over.

Biff, the AT-AT's got 438 hit points (so far) I think there will be an antimech unit, but not as strong as the airspeeder.

In the Star Wars book Isard's Revenge, At-Ats were taken down by Rogue Squadron (again). But this time they esed their X-Wings, which, according to the book, hed stronger laser cannons and of course the proton torpedoes. The At-Ats were taken down fairly easily and in very little time. If I remember correctly half the squadron took out 6 At-Ats.

At-Ats are just the imperial unit in one of the mech classes. The other civs have equivalents, plus there is a mech destroyer class. This is the class that the At-Pt is in. Now, the empire is fairly strong in Mechs so that means there would be stronger than others, but there are others that could counter them. I think that the battle scenes in the movie can't really be used as a reference because the only big battles we have seen are the battle of hoth and the battle of naboo. In each of these, the battle seemed fairly one sided, and that was what was interesting. However, for a game like this, they have to balance the sides and give them a chance to all be victorious. We all know that in a straight out fight no one could defeat the empire when it was at full strength, but that wouldn't make for a very fun game.

exactly. GB would be crappy to have a supper civ. or a ton of balanced civs and a really weak one.
