I'm not gonna post this in the JKII forums, because I never go over there, and there isn't any JKII space here anymore.
Anyway, I just got my talons on the demo (on CD, from Computer Gaming World), and tried to play it. Unfortunately, my newly upgraded system (upgraded specifically to play JKO) apparently isn't up to specs. :swear:
The problem appears as:
JK2: v1.02a win-x86 Apr 4 2002

My video card (NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64) is supported, and all my video drivers are up-to-date (except mfc42.dll, which is apparently a Beta version, though I can't find an upgrade anywhere online).
Please tell me this is just a minor fix; I really don't want to have to give up on ever being able to play JKO.
I had that same problem. Now it is fixed, though. Here is what you do.
1.Go into SYSTEM.ini
2.Delete the line that is similar to COA=0
3. You're done.
Note: If you cannot find that line, e-mail JK2 tech support for help. They will tell you what you need.
:fett:
Tried editing the system.ini, and when that didn't work (couldn't find the line), I emailed Yoda's Help Desk (of course what I expect to receive is a reiteration of what's in the troubleshooter, coupled with a diplomatic "the problem must be on your end, 'cause We're Lucasarts, and We don't make mistkaes").
That was on Wednesday; how long is their usual response time? (The site says 48 hours and I'm wondering if I should resend.)
I took about 4 days for me. . . just wait.
:fett:
Heard back coupla' days ago, and now everything's running great (turns out my "latest" drivers were too new :rolleyess ).
I burned through the demo in about an hour. Love the lightsaber system, though unfortunately dismemberment appears to be disabled for the demo (the toggle is still there, but nothing happens).
Cool move: My third time through, fighting that Reborn in the hangar, he did that invert/flip over me just as I do a forward slash. There was a crack, time did its slow-down effect, and the body hit the floor with a thud. Poor guy never knew what hit him.
Coolest move I've ever seen.
Too bad dismemberment doesn't work; it would've been even cooler to see a severed head go rolling across the deck.
Actually, you can.
First:
Bring up the console by pressing "shift" and the key to the left of one (tilde).
Then, type in :"g_saberrealisticcombat 3" without the quotes. Every time you hit someone with a lightsaber, they will fly into pieces.
Whooooooooo. Late post, but I hope it helps.:)
:fett:
do what they say! It helps!!:D
:evil2: Coooooool :evil2:
