A few details beyond 'Ugh, him no work' would be very useful--like OS, where in the game you are, whether or not you've installed the patch, and what other stuff you've got running. No one can help you without knowing more than you've given. Sorry. :(

I reckon he's stuck in one of those God-awful Grim Fandango loops that (even with patch) go like this:
Load game
Play game
Get to a bit
It crashes!
Reload
Play game
It crashes again!
Get stuck in horrible eternal loop of crashing at a certain point with no backup save game.........
