ever notice that in all the screen shots that iv seen of swgb the armies look pretty small i hope this dosent mean that it will be really hard to create large armies and id like to kinda see what a large amount of wookie berzerkers could do to a place

The AI in AOK doesn't like making large armies, that is probably why we are not seeing masses of troops, like most players will make.

thanks tie for clearing that up for me

I think that when they show a screen shot with a huge army it makes things messy. Its harder to pick out units and isnt a very good marketing eye candy.

Also the screenshots are showing a portion of the map. I think that they want to show of a different units and having a larger army would have units all over the place. by building small forces you then can concentrate on individual pieces and won't get overwhlemed.

Its just a screen shot. I doubt they want to show off most of their units by posting a shot of a huge army. One would think that they would want to keep some suprises from getting out just yet.

actually, the screenshots in PC Gamer from june showed off a Hoth battle with LOTS of units. tons of stormtroopers and such. looked very intense.
What i'm really curious about is how those BIG units willl look and work. From the sound of it, the team is increasing the size of the vehicles as they go.

yeah, i think that the big units may look weird when they turn around. they may just jerk to face another direction.

the AI in age of empires always build a strong defense but didn't build that many troops:D

then they would make baracks ARCHERY RANGES stables siege shops and not use them and they made few numbers of willagers and used stupid strategy

It was an AI playing, you can't expect a whole lot from an AI player.

I hated it how the computer could do so many things at one, especially how it controlled it's bowmen! And yet, it was so stupid at times!

I agree, they need to design the AI around how a single player would play. That means doing only one thing at a time, and it also means that they would build up armies, and also rush a bit.

there were pretty good rushes in starcraft, esp by the zergs, so you can expect something like that here as well.

my dream AI, one that learns.

when you begin a new game the AI starts out normal. But as the game goes along it tries different things depending upon the succes or failure of such things it will try something else or modify it a little bit

dream on then. The AI formulates strategies before the game even begins. To have an AI that learns would be next to impossible, as so many factors would have to be calaculated. Like, say they attacked one place, and failed, then if they were to learn it would have to formulate another entire strategy, then if the next one failed, they's have to come up with another, and so on and so on. So you see why that won't be happening any time soon i don't think.

Now that would be awesome. It would be kinda like the borg they would atapt so you would constatly keep thinking up new startigies.

Did someone say "Matrix"?

Now thats the kind of AI they need to get in the game. ;)

well, it's not out of the realm of possibility although i agree with tie that it might be difficult. for example, i have madden for the PS2 and you can not run the same running play in consecutive fashion. however, you have that run play and three plays later you do it again and you could have success, although not as dramatic as the first time. thus, if the AI does adjust to your strategy, it can only do so for a short time frame...

Your partially right, there is a certain degree of learning in AI like that, but it is only a single command. It takes the previous play and runs through a likely defense for the next play. You could run the same play almost every time (as i frequentlly do), but the command is still random, so you will only be totally blocked a small percentage of the time. Leanring, and retaining knowlege is something that requires a vast number of commands and possibilities. But your right, its not impossible, but it would be ver very hard.
