Okay first I'll just say I'm a new member, I think jediknightii.net is pretty good, loads of imformation, links to other sites and that. It's been real useful helping me through the single-player game.
But, I downloaded several skins from here ( Obi-Wan from ep1, Obi Wan from ep4, and others) and in the readmes it says put it in your base file blablabla and I did all that, opened them with Winzip and stuff. But they never appear in the icons of player characters you can use, it's just always the same bunch. When I check the base dir. it shows the paled out files above and below it shows the other files on the cd, and every time I turn on my pc it pops up a little bubble saying, and i quote ''you have files waiting to be written to the cd''. I know nothing about cd writing, burning whatever, never go near the stuff. I probably am boring you but I'd really like someone to tell me if they know what I am doing wrong, and how to sort it out. Thanks a lot.:)

Never seen any "bubbles" pop up. Sounds very unusual to me.
I've downloaded several skins and haven't had any problems.

I've got some questions:

1. Did you ONLY extract the .pk3 file to your base folder?
This is the only file that should be extracted.

2. Are you trying to use skins on any downloaded maps?
I've found some of the maps don't support new skins.

3. Do you have the new game patch installed and if so, did you download skins after installing patch?
If you tried to get skins before patch, you shouldn't have had any problems. If after patch, there may be a conflict with where you installed patch and where you are extracting .pk3 files.
( A friend of mine had this problem because he was running game
off two hard drives. Don't ask me how, he's a PC freak.)

Other than that, I can't be much help. Just figured i'd give some input on what has worked for me. Hope I helped!

Oterwise, sorry to waste your time.
:)
