There seems to be a lot of people wanting powerful weapons, vehicles, and starships. Let's not devolve too fast into a power gamer's game. We're not supposed to be all that powerful in the beginning. Evolving your character is half the fun of a RPG. If you start out with everything, what is there to look forward too?
Wraith seems to be putting a stop to most of it, but for those who haven't played an RPG before, I just thought it would be good idea to explain why he's doing it;)
It's not about how powerful your character is, there is no way to actually win an RPG game, just the particular adventure you happen to be in. And sometimes losing an adventure and dealing with the effects of losing can actually be more fun than winning.
The real point of an RPG is simply playing the part of your character, and not having the most uber character you can get right off the bat. In other words, it's not about what you can get for you character, it's about how you make do with what you have;)
Yes, I agree with what Nilaar said! You'll appreciate all you stuff when you earn it. It's a blast when you defeat your enemy and are able to pick his corpse for "goodies".
It gets even better when you upgrade a weapon you have. Like modifying a blaster pistol you've had, to be able to shoot farther or do more damage. It gets real fun when you start custimizing your equipment to fit your needs! :D
For all the Diablo/Diablo 2 fans: It'd be like Diablo without all those weapons and other goodies to find.
Off topic: Can our characters get killed? Cus you said 'losing' and I immediately thought 'death'.
Well I assume you can die just like in any other RPG game. So be careful and don't be too heroic;)
You can lose without dying though. Luke lost at Cloud City but survived to fight another day...

Your character, Luke, fought and lost at Cloud City and yet still survived??? Whoa! I saw a movie with that same plot!!
Ok....its gonna be hard to not be heroic, I've never played b4 so I have no clue how much fighting I should do...or do you just mean let others fight when I'm all but dead?

Well your a soldier right? I say fight when you aren't out numbered. And if you are fleeeeee
It just means don't try to take on Darth Maul at 1st lvl;)
Of course you saw a movie with the same plot, didn't you know that Lucas took all of his ideas from a game that I GM'd? He even took my line of: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...."
He's such a quack. He should try coming up with his own stuff:rolleyes:
WHOA!! That...that!! That skallywag!!!!!! You sued him right? You did do something right? That was a multimillion dollar idea! At the very least you should have challenged him to a duel of honour!!
Alright....now you got me completely worried about this 'death' thing now
Bah, I figured why bother? It was the least favorite campaign I ran at the time. If it makes Lucas happy to play with my left overs it's no skin off my nose:rolleyes:
I always wondered why he wanted to take a look at my notes after every adventure....
gamma yes you can die, but i will try not to make games that hard at first. But just think about this, the last game in the series, the one right before the rebillon starts will be hard, and if you are not carefull and use everything that you have learned, you will die.
On a lighter note...
Nilaar you let a player look at your notes??? Why would you do that, your good games could end up on the internet and you may never be able to use them again
