The age old question... but don't hold it against me since I am new to the game and these forums. My specs are pretty weak:
350 mhz processor,
192mb RAM,
enough harddrive space,
Voodoo 3 3000 video card.
Thanks
well you have a voodoo so you will need to use the wicked gl thing(I believe someone has described in the sticky thread on how to use it), also may need to run the game in medium and low graphics quality as you cpu is abit slow. Otherwise should be fine
Thanks for the help. I think I am going to get it this weekend then. Someone said that you need to have a 16mb sound card to play it... is that right? If it is true, it doesn't make much sense to eliminate some pc gamers based on sound.
That "someone" would be incorrect.
You need a minimum of a 16 "bit" directx 8 compatible sound card to listen to sound correctly.
I don't believe sound cards are measured in MB. :)
That someone also might have ment to say that you need a minimum of a 16MB video card to play the game.
You actually don't have to have a sound card at all to play any game.
If JO makes you need a sound card to play then that has to be the stupidist thing I've ever heard, and the developers should be kicked, lol.
LOL, that is what I was thinking. That wouldn't make much sense for the developers to do. I guess I read it wrong or the person just mistyped. I take it that you just need to install the Direct X 8 and you are fine....
I believe so. DirectX 8.0a comes on the JO CD as well. So you don't need to download it.
I hope everything works out for you. Lots of people with high end systems have problems with this game so having an older system like you do might cause you to run into a few more problems.
It's all a game of chance anymore.

Yeah, that's the way it feels nowadays. I haven't bought a game for PC in 1 1/2 years or more. So I am a bit worried about my system. If I wasn't so young, I would buy a new computer, but right now it isn't that important. (I am more of a console guy anyway) I am going to take the chance since everyone likes the game.
Should be fine assuming the demo is an accurate rep of the full game's requirements.
I'm running on a Celeron 433, 96MB RAM, and an 8MB ATI Rage Pro and have no problems. The menu's slow as hell though, but the game's fine.
Even though I am going to take a chance getting it, I am going to wait until it is in the $35 range just in case.
