Hey all...

After installation of the new patch, I'am getting a CL_parsepackenteties error... and I'am not using a cd-crack! What is wrong... I never had this problem before!

I would say move this to tech help to a mederator but dont care that much. I had to uninstall the game because i deleted a file after i installed patch for some reason and it would run and a friend has my cd. But anyway i have a theory. Did you happen to buy JO when it like first came out? Well since the cd crack caused this to happen i believe that some of the first cd's bought are not reading right to the patch or something. Maybe someone should start a poll to see how many people who bought the game early are experiencing this problem. Again just a theory

I'm fairly confident this is happens because a patched 1.03 client is connected to a patch server that is using the old 1.02c dedicated server binary. Servers using the new 1.03 binary don't give me this problem (tested 3 on one ISP), and 1.02c ones have all done so so far (tested 8 different ones on different ISP/hosts).

If this is the case and other people can confirm it then we just have to wait for the servers to update to using the latest dedicated server binary.

If possible in future could raven test this compatibility issue before release and/or release the dedicated server needed half a day or so before the patch for the clients? so that servers can be updated immediately the patch goes live.

Actually, I went to a server that said v1.03, a few of them actually, and it didn't work. ?? I dunno what's wrong!

HOWEVER! Right now it is working good.... very strange... maybe the both of you got something?

Well part of the problem I think could be that the 1.03 dedicated server and the patch are seperate, so you could have:

1)a 1.02c server without the patch
2)a 1.02c server with the patch
3)a 1.03 server without the patch
4)a 1.03 server with the patch

When connecting with a patched client:
1) gives you interface 6 found, expected 7 (or whatever)
2) likely to give you cl_parsepacketentities: end of message error
3) not sure, probably the same error as for 1)
4) should work fine.

As the patch only includes new resources for the server to use, the new dedicated server only changes the exe that reads the resources.

I am confident that once all servers have upgraded to 1.03 server with the patch everything will be smooth again.

Just letting you know I moved this to the Tech forum. There are tons of these threads here... hopefully if someone doesn't help you out in this thread, you'll find your answer elsewhere in this forum! :)
