It's enabled sometimes, probably disabled on the weekends to conserve bandwidth and not overtax their SQL server.

I'd appreciate some explination as to why the search function isn't working. I post quite a bit here and it would be a whole lot easier to search for my posts with a serch function than to look around for posts with black dots.

It is disabled because the search table in the forum database is 200 megs. The whole database is only 500. PHP tends to time out before it can go through that 200 megs.

Is it possible then to remove the search button unless the search function is actually turned on?

BTW, If you just want to find posts that you, yourself made, or replied too, you can use the 'user cp' function.
