The comic book story you're referring to happened after TPM.

Think about it: Qui-gon Jinn was killed by a Sith, who was then killed by Obi-wan. Sith always work in twos, so there must be another out there. Around this time, the Jedi learned of a Tusken Raider on Tattooine who uses a lightsaber. The Council sent Ki-Adi-Mundi to Tattooine to investigate what they presumed to be a fallen Jedi named Sharaad Hett. Ki was to try to bring Sharaad back into the fold to help hunt down the surviving Sith Lord.

I don't know why Aurra was on the planet, but she went after Sharaad Hett and killed him. She was as much of a surprise to Ki as she was to Sharaad and his son A'Sharaad (who went on to become Ki's Padawan).

oh, ok, sorry about that you guys. is the rest of the stuff that i posted accurate beastmaster? i remember hearing about this some time ago, and my memory of it is a bit scetchy.
