Garindan,

I have played your level (on my own, not with other people).

This is the pros of it, here are the cons. I also found a few bugs.

Pros (or what I liked in your level):

1. My name is in the readme.txt http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/smile.gif)
2. The change in music.
3. The creatures that attack you
4. The ships (falcon, x-wing, etc)
5. The Cantina.
6. The light change in light was great.

Cons (or what I didn't enjoy as much):

1. The colour green. Just doesn't seem right.
2. You need to add more things in it (computers, etc). Also, re arange the hangar bay. Check out how it was on Yavin, Hoth, etc... Kinda in a circle, instead of "parked" beside each other.
3. Those windows were a little annoying. Try to take a few out. Or put arrows on the walls to let you know where to go http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/smile.gif)
4. I though you said there was going to be spectators? Maybe I have the wrong one.

Bugs: In the hangar bay, beside the Falcon, if you jump on that little egde, you stop walking and just float around.

All around, it's a good level, I can see where you can have some fun with a few people, but I what I mostly like is a SP level. Good job though, and keep it up!

Hey Garindan I made sure last night I played you level cause I knew I wouldn't be able to later.

Anyways here are my pros and cons.

Pros

Reginerating creatures was cool I acutally got scared when I found the first hound in a side room witht he boxes.

Overall nice layout. The level is large (which can be a bad thing if done wrong) but I really think you did a good job in offering different locations to fight in within the level.

Cantina with Diagona in aquarium was a nice touch I really liked that. That would be a great place to take a girl on a date in the Star Wars universe. http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/wink.gif)

Hangar was nice also.

-----------------------------------------
Cons

need more texturing. nothing very complex but possibly texture the ceiling different from the walls and floors to make the level more asthetically appealing to the eye.

I could only find one way to get the the arena 'pit' maybe add another way to get there.

I couldn't find a way out of the pit. If there is a way out please let me know. If there isn't perhaps put in a secret door that only opens for a few seconds after killing the hound in the pit. That way you have a chance to get out but only if you are fast enough.

Perhaps texture one wall connected to the elevator so it will appear to be running on a "track" rather than just floating up in the air.
--------------------------------------------

Overall I really like it. I am impressed by your work (especially since I couldn't have created that myself... at least not yet http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/biggrin.gif) )Perhaps next week sometime we could all meet up on the zone and play each other? I am up for it!

keep up the good work Garindan! http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/biggrin.gif) http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/biggrin.gif) http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/biggrin.gif)

whoa, thanks! it's not for single player yet though, the cons are a great help for me to work on when doing the single player and mp enhanced versions. I kinda noticed something strange about that hom affect in the hangar, i didn't check it out, the reason it was like that is 'cause i forgot to cleave and delete the top section of the room.

I thought the dianoga room was cool as well, the music matched the setting perfectly, in the enhanced version there'll be a cashier guy there. There is no way out of the arena, i guess i'll make a secret entrance for the arena. The glass did kinda look dumb, maybe i'll put a different texture on it. I'll try to think up a way to get out of the arena. my first thought was by swimming. Yeah, that vornskr (hound) scared me too even! especially when i jumped up on the crate thinking i could snipe down on it, but it jumped up and made that loud noise, scared me too! Which green did you mean? the one in the cantinas or the one in the prison areas??? 'cause the ones in the prison areas looks uuuuuugly.

The hangar will be changed around a bit, i'll put the craft in a circle like you suggested. I've add monitors/consoles in a few places, i'll change the mats, NICE suggestion on the ceiling, i'll probably have different ceiling and floor textures. I'll add some more 3dos as well into the level. Another way out of the pit is to use a jetpack mod, which would kinda be cheating though. I'll add the mat for the elevator too. I'll probably have a few more new stuff as well too.

Seeing how everyone else is doing it. I guess I'll use my expertice in this matter, QUITE LAUGHING!!, and point out some things. http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/smile.gif)

Pros

Good placement of 3dos
I really liked the whole oped crate thingy with the monsters.

Good level idea. I don't think A multi has been done centered around this.

I like the lights.

Cons

Very repetative texturing.

Cielings were a little to low in some places.

Not enough lighting.

Needed more atmosphere. To make you feel like you were actually there.

Very boxy. Cleaving is your friend.

------------------

I calculated the odds that this would work versus the odds that I was doing something incredibly stupid...and I went ahead anyway.

but, but the lighting is supossed to keep it from looking boxy! http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/biggrin.gif) the ceilings were low in that one part i forget why though. I was only experimenting with the lighting, just to see what everybody thought about it, i agree about there not being enough of it. the texturing, i barely even bothered with, but i'll give it a try on the enhancement and sp. I'm not certain what you mean by 'atmosphere' more 3dos? well, i'll go work on some more 3do placement and texturing later today.

I agree, there's something on the level that doesn't make us believe we are there. You need to change some textures, add some 3do's... when it's right the level will feel right... it will come into 'focus'.

I'm not too keen on the secret door. I like a fast pace game as opposed to looking long for stuff... that's my opinion anyways.

The green I am refering to is just the green glow of the level... I'm not sure (b/c of lack of texture and story) where exactly the level takes place (Jabba type palace, Imperial outpost, etc). Adding some new stuff will determine that.

Also your hangar needs an outside! How are ships coming in?

Hey Gar, just a note, don't get discouraged by all of this, I'm just telling stuff so you can improve. I hope you don't take it personally.

Those beasts scared the **** outta me also, and killed me in 2 shots... http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/smile.gif)

lol i'm having a great time watching all of you tell me stuff that needs to be changes/added in my level, i've got plenty of ideas now, and it's helped alot. I was thinking about making it a hutts palace a while ago, you know the entrance to the arena? that's where ka'pa was sitting. The hangar i sortof forgot to do, i'm still deciding whether it's a space station or on a planet. I think it'd be better on a planet, since a space station would need all those techs and such to keep it running. So, it'll be on a planet...i'll need to search my rebellion planet database game for a suitable planet. hmm...perhaps i'll have it be an ancient sith arena, where sith would compete in it, and whoever won, got to be the master's apprentice! but now, it's abandoned, and a crime boss has found it and turned it into an arena. hmm...

Um, Gar, just don't get ahead of yourself... You can always improve it later. Try to make it simple at first and offer updates... That way we have something to play...

You're doing great though, dude keep it up!

well, it looks like the eweb is going to mess up the multiplay, so i'm taking it out and replacing it with a guard...every minute i think about it, i might as well just leave the whole level as a multiplay, and have the ai synched, that way you can play as whoever you want to, and also can play coop (i guess). anybody think i should just leave it multiplayer? just add all the .ai synched? i'll just add the spectators in a seperate thing, mainly for 1-2 people 'cause of the lag it'd probably create with more than 1 or 2 people playing, and i'll have up to 20 people allowed to play at a time to fill in some of the spectator parts.

I'll leave the arena the way it is, whoever stays in the arena the longest is considered, the gladiator. good idea or not?

Garindan, try putting a door that opens when you kill the hound. mabye make it lead to a platform of some sort like for giving awards with a door at the back of it so you can get out quickly

for the single player part that is. I'm not going to have a way to get back into the main area in singleplayer, i have a pretty interesting way for the multiplayer though.

there'll be a bonus level in single-player where you can walk all around the level. hmm...i'll probably end up making more 'levels' out of this one level, like one where you raid the place, rescue the imperial officer, etc.

*and people wonder why i hate it here* Just look at all the invisible new topics to post in!!!

Well, i'm almost done. I added all the peoples, and now i just need to do the hangar. In all there's about 100+ people in the whole level, and i'm getting a framerate averaging 29 fps unless i minimize the screen a little. I'm running on a 63 ram, 600+ mhz celeron processor. (although mots confirms it as pentium 3)...

Well, i'll be back later to send the level in to massassi.net and they better release it this week or i'll have to do something evil to Mike C or somebody there. I hate that place.

Well, I'll probably end up having 3 levels. everything's pretty easy to do now since I've got the 'level' done. All i have to do is make the mission objectives.
