Hey peeps, just found this over at Yahoo News:

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ap/20000719/sc/faster_than_light.html)

Apparently, Einstein was wrong.

We've just taken out first steps on the road to FTL travel. http://www.jediknight.net/mboard/cool.gif)

Another online article on the subject:

http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/2000/06/04/stifgnusa01007.html)

It's certainly a startling study.. challenging many of our long-held views.

Actually, I've always known that non-relativistic FTL travel is possible, but we don't know how.

I think of it like a puzzle that we won't solve until we reach a certain point.

The world is flat, it's impossible to sail around it.
heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible.
It's impossible to put a man on the moon.
A manned mission to Mars is impossible at the present time.
It is impossible to travel faster than light.

Anyone else notice a pattern emerging?

<small>Of course, Humans are a prodigy-race, so we're probably closer than I think.</small>

Your last two quotes have not yet been proven wrong. As far as I know a man has not yet been put on Mars and light was broken only by light not a being. At the moment it is still impossible for objects with matter to break lightspeed or even attain it.

You are right, but at the same time, just because it hasn;t happened today doesn't mean it won't happen tommorow.

Exactly. That was the pattern I was going for. Things are always said to be impossible until they happen. I'm just saying that someday people will scoff at our beliefs the same way we scoff at earlier beliefs.

What? Are you telling me you don't believe the earth is flat?
