It might be a little premature to start some clans considering that GB hasn't even come out yet.

But like who cares eh?

Not that premature. After all, GB's gameplay and pacing will be very similar to AoK, so fans of AoE are already familiar with the game.

I might even start a guild myself. Just an idea though.

Not for an RTS. I've been part of a Diablo 2 clan though, before I got bored with the game.

For this GB clan... we'd organize some tournaments, and maybe a ladder. We'll need to think about a catchy name - that's the toughest part :)

Yeah, tournaments would be fun and we could have alot of skirmishes with like 8 players. As for the name.........i'm not very good with names.

Why do people always mention the first post by starting a thread about it, I mean, what's the point?

Maybe they just feel special when they do.

I'm thinking of starting the Paragon-clan again with a friend of mine.
Unfortunately we won't be playing much online.
hehheh

Now for a future sig for Paragon:

Clefo, one good reason is that some leagues start their work pre-release, and if you are late they won't let you join or your name of choice is already given to some other clan !!

Just a little hint ...;)

maybe in addition to our friends who we'll play with, we can start our own clan since we were some of the first to post here. wouldn't be a bad idea, i could see the potential based on some of your posts....

clan-war ! clan-war ! clan-war !

hehehe..
no, we wouldn't play online that much, but i'm seriously considering it for GB. and by that time I'll have cable, so that will make it very easy.

Cable won't help you much when your opponents have bad connections !!

That was only major flaw of AoK, it's multiplayer performance !

are you KIDDING ?!?!
it's multiplayer performance ?!!?

o wait, you mean online.

oh well. that's just a risk you take. i'm sure regular players on a zone will have the speed to keep up.

Wish you were right, but I am regularly playing Mechwarrior 4 in sl and vl leaggues, and you still find guys with 56k modems ....

yep, but you're talking a completely different game then.
I imagine AOK is much less 'heavy' on an online network.

of course you could be on the safe side and at the beginning of a game ask what kind of connection people have. then you're prepared of relieved.

how is mechwarrior 4 anyways? i thought mech 3 was cool, esp. when i only got it for 20 dollars......

i only know what type of game it is... have seen some screenshots, but haven't played the game. it looked like heavier code to me (ie more demanding on a system)

the system specs from GB reveal a bit that this will be a lo-spec game for most people

Mechwarrior 4 is a really cool game and far superior to MW 3 .

And it has a great netcode, so you can even play with a ping up to 800 (just did this yesterday ..) .
So prob isn't with game, but with the zone, as several instances of it are running while you are playing . Direct connection via IP is much better in AoK !!

so why not do that and record it and then send it to the zone ?
or they could monitor it any other way.. you know, like having a referee present who does nothing but watching.

would GB have such a watch-mode ? that would be great for people online. you'd get a real Roman Arena-feel with people looking at the war between two people.

Well, at least yo can record your games !!

Look at Age, thousands of movies of all the major players, great to learn their tactics too !!

I would love it if the devs could tweak the recording feature a bit, though ...

tweak it in what way ?
 Com Raven

The beginnigs of such a movie are very interesting if you want to learn something about the persons rush tactics for example, but if you just want to enjoy the show or want to learn something about your mistakes during combat, it would be useful to have more featues !!

Maybe like in EAs NHL games : forward, backwards, saving single parts of the game and so on ...

they had a lot of that in the AOK-engine. you could save your game in chapters. if you would push the 'net chapter' button, you'd jump forward in the game. so they'll probably have that.

i would prefer a 'drag-and-drop' feature for replay; that way you could determine where exactly you would start. at any point in the game.
