PLEASE!!!I REALLY NEED HELP!!I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A
SITE THAT HAS A SOLUTION TO THE SOUND PROBLEM IN SAM
AND MAX HIT THE ROAD FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS, TILL I
FOUND YOUR SITE!!!I thought my prays were answered but
not really...it kinda cuts off on BOTH sound issue help..

I.e. i tried the one By Hoax (with pictures) made the
max folder and i followed the instructions..After
thay..Where do i run the game from!!!!!!Do i click the
"max" folder and run it there somehow or what???i ran
it from my disc and doesn't work either

Next i tried the one by Quackass...
But at the end of the step 5, it says to copy the
numbers of input/output ranges..than in step 6 it
DOESN'T EVEN TELL YOU WHAY TO DO WITH THE
NUMBERS!!!!!!!! But how to solve the multiple DMA
issue and doesn't tell how to do the Trial and error
method. There is also something about S&M Setup But
doesn't tell how to get there and open it!!!!

I feel these 2 guides are incomplete...They don't tell the last bit of the steps.

BUT I WOULD REALLY REALLY Appreciate it if someone could
help me with either guide, i will use either to get
SOUND!!!Please!!!I love this game, i've beaten it
millions of time (only once was with sound)..and i've
never found a solution to fix this..I have the guide,
the real case, everything, it's been in my life for
like 8 yrs. Now please, I begging!!!someone, could you fill me
in on the end of either one of the guides...I wanna get back to
the game i love! and yes, i'm awaiting the next sam And max game

Sorry they didn't help. If I might ask, which OS are you running?

Try using ScummVM (http://www.mixnmojo.com/php/news/showfile.php?category=developernews&id=47) if you've got Windows 95/98/ME, or Quick and Easy (http://www.mixnmojo.com/php/news/showfile.php?category=developernews&id=147) if you've got Windows NT/2000/XP. I hope those help!

I have Windows ME, and sadly, Hoax's tutorial doesn't work for me since my soundcard isn't compatible with an SB16, although it will work with compatible cards. I was able to get the sound working on ME using Quackass's helpfile with a few extra steps. However, I forgot what I did exactly to get it to work!

ScummVM allowed me to hear the sound (no midi though :(). Right now, the current version of this program is a bit user-unfriendly and complicated. Probably in later versions of ScummVM, it will have more support for sound and midi, as well as being more user-friendly.

If the tutorials don't work, just try the tried and true way of shutting down Win98 to true DOS mode through setup.exe's advanced properties. Of course, the drawback is that you need certain drivers in certain places to get certain results after you type the certain text in the certain boxes.

Ah, nevermind, I can't explain anything without confusing anyone.
