The hype has been growing amongst the jk1 community. A lot of us have moved from the zone to the magic world of IRC ( http://www.mirc.com) )

For about a month we have been creating a clan which basically has selected the top names from jk1 and assembled a team for jk2.

Such names as

Alchemist
Nighthawk
Genetix
Mat
Fuzzy
Dexcro
Monk3y
Pyrot3chnic

and several others to be added after launch.

This clan should pose to be excellent competition for the jedi knight ii community as well as the ladders/tournaments and such.

Only a small fraction of the JK community resides on IRC. With the release of jkii coming soon, and its similarities to other games such as quake iii, we should aim to change this. Scheduling such things as matches and/or scrims are way too difficult on the zone, IRC makes it so much easier for both parties. The quake 3 gaming community (which I and many others in this clan have been a part of) uses IRC as its main means of communication. Such clans as IRN, DSBR, and of course Deviant have made the transition to IRC. Talk to one of them about its use or hit us with any questions you may have. Trust me, its worth the change and will help to make this community as strong as the Q3, CS and UT communities have proven to be.

That chat transcript reminds me of the main Nar Shaddaa chat room on the zone. A bunch of fools sitting around acting like 12-year-olds whose idea of fun it is to insult and degrade others(not to mention each other) and to think(in an extremely vocal way) that they are better than everyone else. I won't play in a place like that if I can help it. Hopefully, since Jedi Outcast will be a new center of zone activity for a while, the sysops will be taking out the trash more regularly than with the old Jedi Knight rooms.

bartolo, like i said there was 1 good version of jcs. the rest are wannabes that is a makeup of people that werent any good that are living off the success of what i consider a different clan with the same name. if your new version of the old clan jcs doesnt like me i could care less because i highly doubt our clan will see yours in any competition, and if we do big deal because i will state again for those that have never seen me type this out... #nar, #deviant will be two of the biggest channels. Legacy is what you call a leftover scumbag from JK1. He was never accepted by the elites because he was a fagit. He wants to be an elite, he's just jealous and you will all see that in a matter of time. Just like everyone else has before.

After seeing the effectiveness of irc within in the q3 community which i come from i thought it to be a good place to start to see whether jk2 multiplayer could take over the time i spend online as q3 once did. First signs were good, community seemed eager in most chans i went into (those listed) to help people with technical problems etc. With the prospect of adsl just over the horizon i was thinkin that my q3 days were coming to an end and with it a new start in jk2.

Anyway i connected to the network earlier and after around an hour id been pmed by a few ops asking if i was pming people in the chan (which i wasnt) and then kick banned from two chans (again listed on this thread) after being accused of being a WD/dsbr. I had no idea of what either meant although have been informed WD = warez distributor. This is something im not so im left with dsbr, not been able to work this one out yet. What i have done whilst connected to the network is try to get a feel for how the jk2 irc community differs from q3 and to help people whenever i could do. If id acted in a manner the ops didnt see fit i can understand but the response was to accuse me of something i dont even understand and then not explain it fully. Another side point is that its fairly obvious some of those in the channels are using warez versions of the game yet have no hassle from the ops.

For jk2 to enjoy the success it deserves the community has got to be a lot more welcoming and look to explain stuff to those new to it. Again if jk2 is to do well irc is almost essential in my eyes, with ops acting in such a manner things dont look that bright. This is not to say all jk2 irc chans have been like this, others ive idled in have given me hope that with some time things will sort themselves out.

Id hoped my first post would be more positive but im sat here frustrated and unsure of exactly what ive done wrong.
