Hello all,

I am a new member to the forum, I have been reading hte different threads and I have a question. I was thinking about the shields in the game and how they might work. I know that they will double the defense of all of your units within their borders, but will they have any negative results for enemy units, and will there be a way to increase the area that they cover.

Hello and welcome:D
I don't think they have any negative results on enemies besides blocking their shots;) I think they will at least have shield upgrades for the Gungans because of their UU. Most likely everyone else has upgrades too. But we won't know for a while...

Oh, I really hope they don't have any negative effects for enemy units! I already think have units that can heal when in the shield is a bit of a stretch, anymore positive or negative effects and it becomes stupid. (no offense to you dvader07 :) )

In the Interview with MFO, (Or one of those Interviews) They stated that the shields would take away attack points of enemy troops.

me either. would you mind finding it, i'd like to read it if you don't mind. It seems to unfair if they have a disadvantage to enemy, AND an advantage for you. Of course, Mr. Fixit was there to balance things out, so they may have changed it if he and others said it was unfair.

Will the sheids be similar to the movie where no laser blasts could get through until they were in the sheild raidus or is it just that they double the hit points of units inside and laser blast can get through

It is my understanding that the onlly offensive bonus for the shields is doubling all your units inside the shields hp. I don't think the shield would actually stop anything.

Another thought, if you were allied with someone, would your shield work for their units if they were within its radius as well. This could be very useful in relation to the gunguns with their mobile shield generator.

Okay, let's say you can use an allies shields to double your units HP. I am playing the TF and my ally is Gungan. I move my destroyer droids (Droiddekas) into his Famba Shield Generator. Does this mean my Detroyer Droids are now at HPx4 (since they have their own shield generators)? That would be Nasty:eek: !

But even if not, it would almost stand to reason, that you could use Allies shields for your troops, but maybe they haven't thought that out yet. Good question!

Are we sure the Destoryers have their own shields, since in the movie some of them don't, i.e. the battle between the Gungans, and the Federation.

It would seem sort of pointless to me to say that the destroyer droid has its own shield since all this would actually do is double there hp, but since they started with the shield there wouldn't really be anything to double, they would just start with a higher amt. Thank normal.

I don't think shields will serve the same purpose as the walls, the shields will not keep units out of your base, they just aid in defense. The one thing that they will do though, is they will make defense a lot easier. The defener will have quite a big upper hand which the attacker will have to overcome with either supperior numbers or superior technology.
