I have a little question ...

How much mb does a forum like this require? I'm asking because I and some others are setting up a forum too. The trouble is not the forum itself ... cause it's there. The trouble is all those posts and avatars and profiles and ... ya know ...

Can someone give me an indication?

Ideally to begin with it should have around 20MB space, the benefit of a forum like this is it uses a MYSQL backend which helps alot for space and speed, I'm guessing that you'd be looking at roughly 35-50MB used on this forum.

The space the avatars take up is entirely dependent on how big each one is, ideally you should be looking to keep files small, around 1-3kb for smilies and not really larger than 15kb for avatars.

A forum this big would struggle on a free host, I used to run a forum with over 1100 members and had to leave my free hosting after around 150 members because the space used was quite large.
