I just finished installing the game...it was that fast...i believe that's why the folks at Lucasarts opted for a 2d engine..how ticked woulda had been if i installed this thing then had to go hunt down a 3d glide driver or something just to get it to work...so far so good...everything looks nice and Attitchuck looks like a bad a**...i will be back on later this evening to give you guys a review of what i think...dont worry it wont be a spoiler i wont reveal the missions endings and such but i will comb through the game and the toybox units and such and tell you guys what i think...i'm off to play the game..laters.

EB and Software Etc said they were shipping it out on the 12th. LucasArts shipped to them before that, game store companies get their game first in a warehouse, and then they ship out again to their branches, I believe.
if eb is shipping today couldent they get it in stores by the 16th?

Okay all...i just got done playing the entire Wookie training campaing as well as a few of the gungan scenarios. Plus i doodled around with the scenario maker and i read a bit into the data base to learn about planets, units, heroes and such. I will make some points below on what i noticed from the game and i'm certain everyone will like what i have to say. I have really been enjoying myself playing this game, and i probably wont be spending much time on the boards anymore after this cuz i'll be playing the game scenarios, playin it online and doin other real life things. So here goes:
-The game installs and runs very fast and smooth. I think that's the benefit of using the tried and true AOK engine and the fact that it's a 2d game.
-The box design and manual design are fabulous! Gary Gaber, Reed Knight and two other guys i cant read handwritings signs the box and the dog tags look cool!
-One thing you should know is that there are 2 different interfaces you will see depending on the screen resolution you select. the 800x600 dealy gives you a zoom in of the game, less sharper images, and a generic interface.. meaning no elaborate edge frames with x-wing logo and such, but hte game still looks great.... at 1000x700 or whatever resolution the game looks super sharp and you get the unique interfaces you see in all the screens. Whether this is a big deal or not is up to you...i dont care cuz i alwyas play in the highest resolution possible anyways.
-This isnt a real big gripe but i still think they didnt pay enough attention to the trail and wake effect of water units. i know most of the water units are hydrofoil type units, but i'd like to see some big frothy splashes and such...but the rest of the water effects, explosions and splashes look great...just my personally little gripe.
-THe artwork is awesome and the between scenario cut scene images look incredible and i think you can use these images in your own custom scenario...the wookie campaign images look great with lots of screens of wookie homes, and troops and the pics of attichuck are great.
-I stand corrected on the Gungans being serious...well at least in demeanor.. They stil got all the goodies i have talked about like mechs and heavy weapons and such but all the units sound like cartoon characters...the most being their workers which are some kinda underlings that dont speak at all and make little squeaky cartoon character nosies when you tell em to do something. ANd you just gotta send em fishing...those little suckes will dive into the water and come back out with fish...hilarious! Also all the gungan buildings are grown. THe worker will make a little pond then grow their buildings just like the producer talked about in the Phantom Menace DVD. THe whole gungan look has a pastel, day-glow look to it. But they still got nice units despite you feel like your watching a saturday morning cartoon when you play em.
-The Berserkers are bad ass and all the units played with about the same balance as we all experienced in the demo! THe trade federation units look great as i expected/
-They did a good job to fix the unit walking. The units no longer look like they are running 20 miles an hour but moving 1 mile an hour.
-THe toybox units are nice indeed, even though i only goofed around with a few of em...they got lots of ewok and transdoshan building as well as lots of props and building from all the various planets in the saga.
-I didnt get to play around with AT-AT's yet as i havent played a skirmish game yet or the empire scenario, but the ones in the toybox look cool and deatailed!
-I doesnt look like they nerfed anything as far as building strength, air unit hitpoints or pummel damage. Everything you saw in the demo balance-wise is still in tact, but the researches you get changes things a lot.
Well im sure there's a whole lot more to talk about, but i've only had the game a couple hours. THis should give you guys who are waiting for it tommorrow an indicator of what to really expect. In summary, most of the balance is the same as the demo; graphics and lighting effects look way more improved especially on power cores that have a more ambient glow now as apposed to the light blue outline they had in the demo; all the right tweakin has been taken care of and the whole game is just f***ing awesome!!!! Grr...one more thing i forgot. The voice actors did an incredible job. They guys who did Liam Nesson's and Boss Nass's voice did an excellent job and they sound so close to the real actors that you can hardly tell the difference! It really gives an authentic feel to the game.

Wow lots of questions here i feel like Gaber. I played this thing ALL DAY , only stopin to eat lunch and dinner. Like i said before i played the entire wookie campaign and played like about 4 of the Gungan campaigns becaues they were reall long and i messed around with 1 of the trade fed campaings. The Boss Gallo/Boss Nass campaign is awesome and lots of fun. One of the early campiagns was a straight up battle that lasted and long time and was real bloody. Let me say that if you're like me and you're not really used to loosing a whole bunch of units in battles then this game is gonna give you a shock. I mostly used truebuchets and battering rams in age of kings and just had paladins and champions to guard em in case anybody came up to attack em. Shields really do change this game and make base attacks a pain in the butt. Because of shields and the balance meaning this guy cant attack this but he can do good against that makes the death toll for both sides of this game real high..even if you're kicking butt. I think that's real fun and oh yeah..this A.I. is not stupid! I thougt it was gonna be the run of the mill aritficial idiot but this guy really had me stressin and the scenario lasted like 2 hours because nothing i did went without a clever counter attack and he attacked my base often, plus the a.i. will use shields like its goin out of style. here are some points to hopefully answer some of the questions and fill you guys in on more....i wasnt able to figure out how to get screenshots even though i did the screen copy thing but here's some more info.
-Jed Knights and Jedi Masters are 2 different units, not an upgrade. THe Jedi Knights are young strappes like young obi-wan, while the Jedi Masters are old bearded guys like old obi-wan, sorry i didnt get around to using his attack, all i did is convert so i dont know if he shoots lightning.
-Yoda runs up to his enemies and whacks em with a cane...one hit on a scout bike destroyed it...heheh..and the voice actor was once again excellent.
-There is a slaver ship...looks like the ones that were escorting Jaba's ship in ROTJ.
-Bobba fett sound intellectual for some reason instead of like Clint Eastwood's cousin
-I wanst able to find a way to edit unit hitpoints and stats but maybe somebody more skilled with the scenario editor could.
-There are Trandoshan slavers, jailers...Ewoks have bombers, gliders, warriors, catapults...all there hero guys are there.
-Correction on my part,...shielded fighters and bombers kick ass....I just played a Naboo game skirmish and about 20 bombers (that's not really many considering you can make 200) with shields bombed the s*** out of a Emperial FORTRESS, yes fortress the hard thing to take down, and left it in rubble. THere were still about 14 of em left.
-THere are loads of scenario objects..each time you change civ in the player setup you get new ones...not all are new but you get a bunch more heroes and building when you switch it from imperial to rebel and so on. Immense amount of units, building, and props!
-Darth Maul and his ship are in the game, his ship is a prop that doesnt move or transport units.
That's about all for now. I'll keep you posted if you want more...youl'l all see what im talking about tomorrow.

1. When trebs pack/unpack do thay have cool graphics or do they look like a building house like in aok?
2. Are there any tech tree, bonus, or art/graphic changes since the demo?
3. Are maps like the demo in that 2v2 was always dewbacks, kaadu, and berries, 1v1 was always nerfs, berries, dewbacks, kaadu, and felumpisets or is it more like aok with a more consistent (and imo better format) of 8 sheep, r boar, 4 dear, and berries.
4. What are repeater troopers like. From what I have seen, they carry a gun on a tripod and have to set it down to fire. Do they do this fast or does it take a second to get things set up?

I think you are very skilled to get the game so early as I do not believe in luck. anyway Is there a way to change the generic names to the real names. like strike mech to AT-AT and so forth. and do the TIE Defenders get shields.

Are there any transport upgrades? In the demo you can research a +5 transport unit upgrade but the airships only carry 5.
Also, I know you said you attacked a fortress with 20 bombers, was this a shielded fortress? BTW I am impressed with this air superiority odds. It reinforces my urge to play rebels with Xwings, Ywings, and Speeders.
Have you encountered any game balancing issues? Is there any obvious race thats more powerful? And for the love of all things SW can you please attack with a Rebel Jedi master and tell us what happens!!!
Are the cannons less devastating than trebuychets in SW? There is so much heavy firepower in SWGB it seems that the long range artillery aspect is more toned down
Wow i been on the zone playing games and they are epic! We talking enourmous battles here...so far more and more people are showing up with a copy of the game...i dont know why eveyrone on this board doesnt have a copy yet. I have been picking Gungans and they have been panning out for me so far giving me a 2 -1 record. The only loss came in a ffa game where me and one guy beat the hell out of each other then this other guy stepped in and got sloppy seconds. Actually i razed his base; took out a lot of housing and his command center but this guy already had like 60 units heading to my base and i ran out of ore and couldnt build more turrets and fortresses to protect myself ...and alas i fell. The rebel heavy assault mech the juggernaut is a wuss!!! The Imp and Gungan heavy assualt mech is way better than that thing. I dont know where the balancing went on that one...maybe it was because we had the upgraded one and he didnt. The game plays faboulous! To answer some questions yes the heavy weapons do hit much harde once you upgrade and really kick ass, but all of em are vulnerable to close range attackers and air for the non-anti air ones. The base was not shielded but i still didnt expect a fortress to go down that fast. I still have not attacked with a jedi master yet...Gungans are so weak in em i just build a knight and leave him at my base for just in case situations. Navy is a real killer...the cruiser class kicks ass...its like a floating treubechet only thing is ground units cant reach it...even the heavy assualt mechs dont have the range to reach a cruiser so give a cruiser some air defense support and smash the enemies shipyard and you just put that guy in a world of hurt! They are good against the other ships too and land units..i think the only thing it has to fear is that ship that gets up close and drills others ships! I will try experimenting with Wookies, but for hte time being im hooked on Gungans! If you cant edit the stats ( i think) then i dont think yo can change the name, but it should be a problem when you click on a unit it responds with its real name anyways. Yeah, heavy weapons do their job well smashing stuff, killing aircraft and leveling bases from a long distance, and that hvy artillery splash damage is really sweet against a group of repeaters..hehe. The campaigns are breathtaking. I had to think about wherther i should beat em fair and square or just cheat to see what happens. I used the luke skywalker cheat to see the endings and such and decided i'd play em later to see all the stuff that goes on during the games. Everyone is here, Wedge Anitlles, Leia, Luke, Han, Chewie, Qui gon, Amidala, eveyrone you can think of. They delve real deep into the uncharted storylines of the expanded universe, and cut off on the stuff that non one can guess, like what happens after episode 1. THis is just an awesome game and its really vast. THe techs dont seem like much on the tree but when you put em all together and you gotta pay to get em, they are more than you will probably be able to afford in a sane game (no cheats, no deathmatch and such). So you should think about the techs you want cuz you might not get em all. WEll to all you guys that didnt get it today, better luck tomorrow, but i know eveyrone will have it by this weekend and boy and im looking forward to some outrageous 8 players battles!!!
