I read something in Star Wars gamer abou the AI in GB. I don't have the actual quote but I will sumerise what the Level designer mentioned

One of the level designers was testing a scenario where he was the wookies playing against a Galactic empire. He mentioned that the computer AI was "Broken" when the computer player created nothing but AT-AT'sand sent them into his base. he wasn't prepared but had a few bombers take out the first wave. then he noticed another wave of them coming in. He said it was fixed and the galactic empire is now more "devious".

I'm curious what he ment by that and how good the AI will be.

The Ai is perfectly capable although once you know how to beat the AI in a skirmish you're going yo win the many skirmnishes to come. The human mind is more challenging than the AI but i've heard that the GB AI is pretty good.

Where did you here that? Although I do like how the ai was in AOK it still was lacking certain strategic ideas. One thing that was dissapointing however in AOK was that it went after the TC. I still laugh everytime the Computer tries to bring swordsmen to attack a TC and get annihilated. I wish it could acually go after resource nodes and buildings.

I know there is nothing better than playing another person over the net. it would still a blast to take have a friend and take on six AI's

no matter how good the AI a human player is far more devious. I can always manage to beat the AI in every RTS game but when it comes to playing online... dayum the AI dont prepare you for that.

Well, the thing i like the least about AI is that most AI in rts's seem to lack the ability to mass their forces. You will see a human player do it in 99% of the MP games you play, but in skirmish, the AI always sends little pitifull bamds at you, even though if they waited and massed their units then they could maybe beat you when they would never haev otherwise. So, if they built nothing but ATAT's then that would be a start, but they would still need to mass attack with several types of units i think.

dude you know they dont ever program the AI in RTS Games to Rush, they probaly feel that'd piss alot of people off but its true no RTS game I've seen the computer rush me with Towers or massive armies.

At the hardest difficulty levels the AI in AoK sends waves and waves of troops, maybe not super armies like Human players would do, but it is effective if you let them take the upper hand. Maybe what that Star Wars reviewer was trying to say is that it has been tweaked a bit, but still lacking in certain areas, like sending in waves and waves of AT-ATs and it caught him off guard.

However by reading this it looks like the AI didn't adapt and send in some AA? He didn't say what difficulty he was playing at... in any case home bro's.. the game is out in less than 5 days..

I bet the A1 will be exactly the same as of AOK except that the guys will auctally talk instead of mumble giberish.

Actually, something I've noticed in AoK, which I hope is fixed in GB, is the computer giving up too easily......usually, when I have games vs. the comp, either the difficulty level has to be pretty high up, or they all resign in about two minutes, without me even going near any of their camps! Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yeah, once i took my scout cavalry and killed 2 of his workers at the very beginning so he resigned.

Also, when i used to play on easy, i would tkae my forces and destroy one of his town centers and some of his workers and all of his army so he would resign. I never got the chance to finish him off completely.

patches don't do me any good. I've got the games on my computer, and I don't have the internet. My internet access is in the University labs, so I can't download patches and updates. Which sucks. And they resign without me going near their camp. My scout sits in my home base, and they still do it. Bah! I say to them.

Well, I will telll you, if the AI is anyting like the AI in the game Conquest Frontier Wars it will be a great game.

The AI in CFW is the best I have seen. It is not some dumb AI that sends a few units at you at a time, No, it sends entire Fleets at you and then when you think you have survived a few moments later here comes another Fleet.

Great game, great AI, check it out. If SWGB is close to that level AI I will be very pleased.

Sorry but the latest patch of AoK/C fixes that problem, I hated that moronic crap too. I think they tried to make the AI "smart" and know when its losing so you wouldn't spend 05894 hours looking for the last villager/hut. But in its initial release it is really buggy. If you have any kind of 'net access the patch is small.
