How many do you think? I think that the more the better. I hate it how in Starcraft you can only select 12.
What do they currently use in aok. I think that would be enough.
probably similar to the AoK engine, should select as many as possible to bring to life those large scale star wars battles....

In AoK you can select at least 20 or 30 units at a time. On second though maybe 35 or 45...

hehe, something like that fergie. anyhow, it will be way more than the 12 units for starcraft.
Well I'd hope for a lot more than Starcraft allows. Everybody loves Starcraft, except for me it seems. There's so many little things wrong with that game I've just never been able to get into it, online or off.
That game just annoys me.... give me AOK, Sudden Strike, Homeworld, MechCommander, Command & Conquer, and hopefully Galactic Battles over that highly over rated game.
i have mechcommander and c&c and thought those games sucked. c&c b/c it's so outdated, and mechcommander b/c there's not much else behind those graphics.
i'll agree with you on homeworld, though. it's a great rts in space.

there's not much more annoying than having a large army and having to split it in two because you can't send it away in one go..

That's one thing that i don't like about AOK. The fact that you couldn't gather your entire army into one group. You should be able to command as many as you want at once, like you can in RA2 and the other C&C games.
If they don't make it so that you can select alot at a time then it would be very unfair for the races that has lots of weak units for really cheap! And the race with the most expensive strongest units would have a huge advantage.
I choose as many as you want b/c it would give you a disadvatage in large scale engagements if you couldn't.
Not really, you can just seperate them into two groups. It is a bit of a pain, but it still works, and it is not unfair.
i think selecting as many as you want to do a massive rush is fun. similar to warwind if you guys ever played that rts game.

Actually I usually separate mine into two groups at least anyway. Usualy 3. 1=troopers, 2=cavalry, 3=trebuchet. troops engae on the front line while cav. protects the trebuchet from archer attacks and such. Or sometimes its the other way around, but the other way doesn't work well. Infantry usually have the same speed as archers so it takes a while to gain on them. While Cav can race up and do the job in no time.:dtrooper: :chewie: :dtrooper:
I do that too. I usually have a main attack force of troopers and archers. Then i have a group of siege weapons for the buildings. But you shouldn't have to split up the first group. Your main strike force should be all in one group, and not limited to 45 troops.
maybe in this game the same thing can be said of troopers, mechs, and now air units since they add some depth in your attack.
for those of you who are proponents of air units not being important in this game, they actually make a difference. this game is focused on ground assaults, but if you're going against someone with a good army and ships to back them up, you're SOL.
Being limited to 45 isnt that bad. It didn't make AOK a bad game and in starcraft you can only select 12 at a time and thousands of people play that game online everyday. Its better to split your forces anyways and the AoK system allows you to select the most damaged units for healing.In games like C&C Its not as much fun because it all boils down to mass rushes of tanks with little in between. Its like having a sandwitch without the meat. It gets old really fast. its also more balanced.
yeah, i see your point. you can always put your two or three or whatever no. of groups under hotkeys as well, so 45 max is not a big deal vs. selecting everyone.
If you talke to the really advanced RA2 players (not me) then they will most definately tell you that it does not come down to tank rushes. It has a ton of strategy, and the unlimited amount of troops in a group is part of the strategy, although an experienced player splits up his group anyway.
