The rebels and Imps both got shafted with unique technologies. The rebels only get one, and the Imperials only get two. For all its owrth, the imperial mechs won't be that great considering they only get one specific mech technology, and it only decreases minimum range for mechs

think about how good the At-at is gona be. The imps will probably have one of the strongest mechs, think of the movies.

I agree, despite all the neat reviews of the other civs i think everybody is still gonna pick imperials so they can get AT-AT's. heheh...i think all the reviews did is convince people that they should give the other civs a try sometimes too. I can see it now, 8 player game, all Imperials.

If the imperials got a tech that gives mech's more hitpoints or range they would be better, but their assult mech vs another races assult mech are goning to nearly destroy each others

Its just as strong as any other heavy assault mech, nothing better. Go look at the tech tree yourself. There is nothing special about the at-at

Lucasarts might have given other civs unique bonuses so we are motivated to play with them. Everybody knows and loves the imps and rebs, so now there is a reason to play with the other civs also.

take a look at how many of the mech technologies the empire recieves...a fully upgraded T4 ATAT has 438 hit points!! compare that to the other TOP mech civs: gungans = 405 and Trade Fed = 438 as well BUT look at how slow carbon is collected...all of this is before the range and cheaper upgrade bonus' become effective...

i still give the empire ATAT top spot on mechs :) its a close call indeed...also look at the empires next strength: jedi MASTER...the TF have nothing in jedi power, also look at their (empire vs TF) unique units, both are excellent

so the final decision = empirical mechs kick butt :atat: and they have a supporting ground force to back them up :fett:

seriously just think of how powerfull the at-at is, that tech they have that allows them to shoot at any distance is gona cause some damage. Don't be making those faces at me.

I thought once the gungan heavy mech got creature armor it was gonna be at least equal to or stronger than AT-AT?

No the other assault mechs have a minimum range of 2 tiles, the at-ats fully upgraded will not. Not to mention not all civs can research all the mech speed updates, and the heavy assualt mech option.
