It's eleven o'clock in the evening, I'm barefoot and logged onto the internet.
I usually pick up some e-mail in the afternoon, (but on weekends sometimes I forget.)

I yell down the hall to the bedroom,"Honey, I'll be right there!"
She says, "It's OK baby, got a brand new book in here, and I'm not going anywhere."

The funny thing about a couple (when a couple of years have gone by.)
You don't talk, figure you know each other so well, you don't have to try.

You take it for granted what you used to call 'enchanted' just a while ago.
But when does a mystery turn into history? I Don't know.

Anyway, I got a another bunch o' data (which I once used to hate-a) comin' down the line.
It's a Wall-Street Profile Spreadsheet, comin' in from a friend of mine.

Up on the screen pops a pop-up box that says "Click on Me"
Somewhere, I swear, Alice in Wonderland is callin me.

Well, I look at the clock, not as late as I thought (only quarter to one)
And the download's finished, I can take 5 minutes and have me some fun.

It's an invitation to join a web location in Hong Kong
It's already started there's a virtual-party--runs all night long.
I say, All night?"

(Chorus)
Well, wah- hey-ooo
We're invited to a virtual party tonight.

Well, wah- hey-ooo
You're all invited to a virtual party tonight.

There's computers in the microwave, computers in the autos, and computers in the phone.
And even my wife (who used to say, "Get a Life") has got a computer of her own.

I spend so much time saving time, that I don't have any time to spend.
I've taped 16 episodes of Star trek, but when will I ever see them?

It's unbelievable, must be 60 or 70 people here on this party site.
It's Icons, Avatars, and images of movie stars surfing tonight.

Well, I'm looking for a chat, and get a note that says, "Hey, you wanna come...
...to a place more private...I kinda think you like it ;). I say, "lol, yum"

She says her name's "Matta Hari", and she's particular-y fond of older men.
Maybe so, maybe not (maybe she's just a dude that has an urge to pretend)

And then it occurs to me, I don't need this fantasy, after all.
'Cuz I got everything I need and she's there at the end of the hall.

Well, I log-off and shut down the box, it's time to get to bed.
Slip under the covers to snuggle next to my lover--find a note there instead.

It say, "The book was dull, logged on, found this message from Hong Kong.
It's a virtual party, and I'm going as 'Matta Hari", maybe all night long.
I say, All night?"

(Repeat Chorus)

"People who drink shouldn't post"--My new mantra

Sorry. I didn't mean to confuse anyone. Part of the confusion is I didn't give any credit: It's a modern folk song by Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary fame).

I just heard it the other night for the first time...thought it was cute....and shared it. Hey, I was drinking...sue me.

You can add to it if you want, but maybe it should just let this thread die here. :)

Heh, I liked it, I wasn't sure if you wrote it or not. I didn't say anything for fear of saying stupid (or moreso than usual) in an attempt to praise your work.
