Whatever happened to that petition to LEC asking for the right to make add-ons? I'm too lazy to read the whole thread, so could someone fill me in as to what happened? I would really like to see it sent to LucasArts.

It all boiled down to this: Lucasarts is not interested in your suggestions. At all. Period. Have a nice day.

They did come out with Battle for Naboo. And if your PC does games, there are the X-Wing series games. The latest version is X-wing Alliance. The most complicated version I can play right now is X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter...all the battles are in space, but that sure is a lot of fun. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/biggrin.gif) The TIEs can't hide from you in space.

So, it would seem that Rogue Squadron is finished. If they ever do come out with add-on missions, it will be their idea and not ours.

May the Force be with you. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/wink.gif)

Extremely sad, but true. We had a couple hundred sigs on a petition right here, but Lucas Arts has their heads up their Snarfwinkles. If you like SIMS then X Wing Alliance is OK. I don't personally care for sims, you just fly around drinking space rum waiting on something to shoot.

LEC sucks. Remember JK/MotS? They came out around '97, but are still popular because they're editable. You'd think they'd learn from that and make more of their games editable. Luckily, I've heard you can edit Obi-Wan. That looks like a great game.

Did you ask LucasArts about it and they e-mail you back or no? I think we should give it another shot. If they just say no to hundreds of people they'll have many unhappy fans, and then what will they do? http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/smile.gif)

What do a couple hundred people matter to LucasArts? Not a zd;flkgja thing, I guess. We had people who were "in with LucasArts," but they faded out once they got NO feedback. We represent a miniscule part of the gaming public, like a couple of drops in a bucket to them. RS is arguably the best all ages game on the market, ESPECIALLY it's the best LucasArts has put out. Riding on their laurels I suppose. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/frown.gif)

Shootist, I've never had much problems waiting for things to shoot at myself. The trick is to fly something fast like (yes) an A-wing or a TIE/Advanced...and configure your LES with the lasers totally off and shields at maintenance level until you get to the target. When you get there, you can always dump shield energy into the lasers for a quick recharge. My biggest problem is working with other Rebel ships in the air...in good old RS, the other pilots are plain dumb stupid, but the AI pilots in XvT actually do stuff...and there are times I'm tempted to shoot them for getting in my way! Of course, the game is arranged so you win with teamwork rather than going it alone, so I just cooperate.

Of course, I do miss Rogue Squadron. There are times when I'd like to see a horizon, and there are no ground dudes in space. Plus, my pathological hatred for chicken-walkers has no outlet. *Sigh*

We may be small, but we have connections. There are numerous other RS sites out there. I could go there and ask for their support. We can't give up! Editing is what makes games fun even after you've beaten it for the gazillionth time! As individuals we are weak, but united we will triumph! http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/biggrin.gif)

Want to restart that petition? I certainly would like to. I also know some friends who would probably sign too, so that adds about two or three! Pleeeeeease??????? And besides, we might not be a major part the gaming world, but we're a pretty big part of LEC gaming world! If you say yes I'll get right on getting people to 'sign'.

This is our only hope:

Open Letter to George Lucas

First of all, I would like to thank you for the artistic vision you brought my generation. I was the eight-year-old in the front row you were writing for, and I've had a taste for sci-fi ever since. Now we are in the next century, and you've given the story new life by moving it into the modern art form: the interactive CD-ROM. That 'blank slate' you spoke of so long ago is filling out nicely...and the wonder is that the slate itself continues to grow larger. Here we are in a tiny corner of that slate, dicussing that part of the story called 'Rogue Squadron.'

There is something magical about this corner, though, and I think it is precisely the interactive element that makes it so. We all wanted to climb into the X-wing and fly into combat when we saw the movies...and now we can. This part of the story has taken on a new life of its own, Mr. Lucas, and those of us who enjoyed it so have an understandable craving for more. I think this is why we're seeing such a strong demand for additional RS missions...not because we were disappointed in the adventures already created, but because we, the interactive elements, simply want more.

So. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/smile.gif) Would it be possible for you to inquire on our behalf in this matter? When I'd finished the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter CD-ROM, there were additional missions available. I'm no computer expert, but it seems to me that they could release a similar addition to Rogue Squadron. I know that I would certainly buy it...

Again, thanks...both for your time and your creative vision. May the Force be with you.

Did you make that? It's great! Add something about an editor. Is that what you're talking about, or just companion missions? I want to make my own levels! I'll get to finding more people right away! http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/biggrin.gif)

At the very bottom you could also add, "From your good friends, Imladil, Shootist, The Master, Chillin, Lt Cracken, Rogue, Rogue 15, Cougar, and all the other little people at Rougue Squadron.Net." http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/biggrin.gif)

One other question Imladil. How do you get the colored text?

My intention was that we should each write an open letter to the Great Cosmic Jedi. The more there is here addressed to him, the more chance there is that it will be brought to his attention.

Make it editable? Well, sure I guess. Think of it as sitting on Santa's lap. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/wink.gif)

How do I get my text yellow? Well, The Master, I stick a banana in my ear and think of the Chiquita Banana Lady. Like this. http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/smile.gif) See?

WE Need a organization place a HQ from where we can organize our minions

because simply for newbies and oldbies alike with so many differnt strings it gets confusing and hard to find the importent stuff.

On another not do you think we could stress that if a financial venture and development project is not very apealing to at least not drive off a larg group of fans they should at least give us tips on editing every feature of the game so WE CAN MAKE THE EDITORS
