For all you sci-fi and ST fans out there (hello, Imladil!)
http://www.roguesquadron.net/forums/wink.gif) this article appeared in the Wednesday, March 3rd edition of The Province:
A real holodeck?
The holodeck on Star Trek may not be science fiction for long.
The U.S. army is now using what it calls an early version of a holodeck to develop its next generation of weapons systems.
The Cave Automatic Virtual Environment is a small room filled with 3-D video equipment, projectors and mirrors that work to create a virtual environment that soldiers percieve by wearing special glasses.
A soldier could sit in a virtual environment and he would not only percieve it and his surroundings but also other crew members in the form of computer-generated avatars with whom the soldier can interact.
Not bad, huh?
P.S. Where is everybody?
