Should different races have advantage on different planets?

Should races have advantages depending on what planet they're on? Like the Wookies would have an advantage on Kashyyk. Or would that be too unbalanced?

I think they shouldn't. The host would always look for the planet that gave him advantage.

Yeah, i was just about to say that you could never decide on which map to play on in MP. Also, some maps have more than one terrain, so how would you do that?

I think it'd be real cool to have that. But game- wise, it would unbalance the game too much :(

Might be a good idea for single player though.... I wouldn't want to see it in multi-player.

perhaps on like easy difficulty you get the advantage, on normal theres no advantage, and hard the comp has the advantage.

or on multi, newbies could have a handicapped option that would do that sort of thing? :D

from the looks of it, multiplayer maps can have different terrain-types all in one (the space based ones for sure), so it would be almost impossible to implement that.
plus, you're talking terrain types really, not planets.. only advantage i can think of is water-maps with Gungans. That's a built-in advantage from the start with the many subs, underwater-houses, etc..

Yeah... thats about it for terrain advanatges :ball:

no, they shouldn't implement that idea in the game. if you're joining a game and the host decides to play a map and picks a civ that can go through the terrain with ease, that sucks. however, different terrain will have mobility effects on ALL civs. i read that up on pcgamer.....

Glad to hear that. I want to have advantages if i'm on higher ground or in a better position, it makes for more tactics and such.

In single player mode, sure... that'd work well. For MP though, it'd be hard to play full game knowing you're at a dis/advantage due to the planet you are playing on.

I think it would be cool to give civ's an advantage if they are on a certin type of terrain, and i don't think it would be that hard to put into the game you would just have to make regoins of the game that units got a bonus in.

Look at the gungans, they should be better in the water than most units, wokkies should be better in trees then most, etc...

If their is a host that choise both civ's and map and make it unfair to anyone that plays against theim, don't play with that person.

Yeah, it would be cool if the wookies could walk through the trees., that could be there advantage on their planet. It would be kinda like the gungans swimming. You would have to think of other things for the other civs of course.

good idea but you should be able to turn it on or off at the settings before you play.

I dont like think it should be in the game, what about terrains like say the Hoth terrain who would get the advantage there?? But terrain mobility effects for all civs will be awesome!!

yes, units in general will react differently to various terrains. if they have this civ for terrain type tactic, then they better think of advantages for the less so obvious like the imps or rebels. plus, there's around 50 terrain types so they'd have to pick and choose who's gonna have what advantage and where.

the problem with civ-specific advantages on terrain (and also the reason why it won't be there i think) is that there's no counters in that game then. Even TIE-Bombers can bombard underwater houses from Gungans once they're detected.
i reckon the only 'advantage' is that certain units have more HP than others for a certain task; regardless if they're on their 'home-terrain' or not...

one definite advantage is Gungans with the shield fambaas.

I would have to say it wouldn't work. What I would like to see in terrain is that, units that have tracks/wheels move faster on paved roads. Other than that I want a hight advantage. If I'm on a hill I should have father range then say a person at the bottom of the hill Pure phyisics.

and you know what, i think you'll see that. that makes a whole lot of sense which is why you can't discount the air force in this game.

It'd definately be nice if they did something more with height differences in GB then just the small attack bonous in AOK. Your range idea is a good one.

Westwood did it in Emperor Battle for Dune. It wasn't huge but still when one a cliff you could shoot father then on the sand.

One thing that i think they should have is that when you are at farther range, you have less attack power, and when you are at close range you have greater attack power. Blasters do break down after a certain distance, so they really do become weaker with range.

That would be cool. However it couldn't apply to all units. A rocket doesn't lose an strength as it goes. I would be interesting to see a battle going on say the range of a unit=full hit power, however once it goes out of that range it does little damage.

hmm, not such a bad idea, but i think once a unit comes within range, that unit will be shot at no matter how close, as long as it's within that range. what probably will happen is that as a unit continually gets close to its enemy, it will take less time to get a "round" off, such that it'll be quicker to kill your opponent since you're closer to him.

boy, it's going to be dumb if units and both higher and lower ground have the same ranged attack...
