trade droids

Since the trade federation is not going to have houses I was wondering if they were going to make some sort of control tower for the droids and if they were to destroy one of those towers would some of the droids be destroyed or shut down. Like if a tower gives you the option to make 10 more units then if that building was destroyed 10 of the droids or other units would shut down. I think that would be cool.

don't know...but it sounds alot more logical than houses for droids!

"where are you going Tc-14?"
"I'm going home, my livingroom needs swept and dusted"

Droids certainly don't need houses! :D

They might just do that although I havn't heard anything about it...

That wouldn't work, bucause one of their advantages is that they don't need houses. If they towers, they would destroy that advantage. The whole point of not having houses, is that you don't need to build anything to have an army, not that you have to build something else.

Yes but you have to build lots of houses and only one of these:D
Anyway a thought just occured to me. Why couldn't they just control them from the barracks. Or maybe it is somewhere out in space. I havn't a clue...

actually, have you considered that they might simply not need houses - period ??
In AOK, the Huns are a comparable civ. They don't need houses and there's not something else they need to build in return. It's simply an advantage that civ has. They do start out with less resources though, making it more balanced early on.

Awesome avatar Havoc!

I for one think that the control tower is an excellent idea, but it's not exactly fair for the TF 'cos they already collect wood slowly, and they need to build a control tower? That pretty much negates the advantage of not building houses ;)

They try for balance don't they?

every civ is balanced in comparison to the others.
and the differences in resources / advantages are small, but big for the player that really learns to exploit them.

i'm looking forward perfecting my TF droideka-rush... hehe..

I'm willing to bet that the droid control ship is your town center equivalent and if it's destroyed, you basically lose. So it pays to build at least 2 droid control center for your droids. And I assure you,no one's gonna do a droideka rush without any other units to protect them. I'd be sending in about 10 or 15 tf bombers to blow away your existing defnses before I send in the droidekas so you would be helpless as you were 'pounded unto death' by my great Trade Fed force! MWUAHAHAHAHA! Long live the droids!

I don't really think there will be any control centers. besides those bombers wouldn't do you any good my AA towers would nock them righ out of the Air while my Fortresses and Ground towers mow down your units.:D

RogueJedi,

the TF has a Towncenter like every other civ... i have a perfect screenshot of it in a magazine and it looks real...droid-like. :D
I'll see if i can put up some scans soon.

Every civ may have a town center, but it would be a major disadvantage if the droids would be "knock out" simply by destroying the Towncenter. I'm betting that droids will be treated just like other troops, except they don't need houses.

Are all of us posting on this thread gonna be playing the Trade Feds first? I sure will. Me and my friend are eagerly looking forward to it. I will show his pathetic Imperial garrison/attack force the true meaning of "droid rebellion" when my droids turn his base into just another crater on the battlefield where my droid legion hath eliminated a many opponents.

Oh yeah, I wonder what other bonuses the other civs have? We know the TF doesn't have to have houses, and the Naboo have a economy bonus, but what do others have?

No one knows Tie. They better have something though, or its gonna suck that they only get a bonus!

That's not a bonus, that is a unique unit, every civ has both, or at least they did in AOK.
 darthfergie

Yes but it is a bonus because they have MORE than one unique unit.:p

It may be a bonus, but its not a "bonus." A "bonus" is the special ability (not unit) that is unique from all the other civs, and give the civ an advantage. It is based on the actuall strengths of the civ, not just a random thing.

Does anyone have any ideas for the bonuses of the civs besides to Gungans and the naboo and the Trade Federation?!?

These are not units, so don't give me a unit. You would know what i mean if you had played AOK.

Yes I have played AoK a million times. (gearing up for Star Wars) and No we do not know anything about other bonuses. At least not until Mr. Fixit's next preview or another chat.:D

Okay I got some bonuses.
Imperials:units have +2 attack
Rebels:units and buildings have +2 shields
Wookies:Villagers gather wood 75% faster

Where did you get these:confused:

He made them up, they are pretty good bonuses though
 RogueJedi86
08-06-2001, 9:50 PM

Because Imperial units always have powerful weapons capable of taking stuff down quicker.the rebels always have some sort of shield(like their spacecraft and ground units). And the wookies require more wood for their buildings and units so they need to be able to get it faster

Going right along with a few more bonuses, here's some for the naboo, gungans, and trade feds.
Naboo:+1 shields on units and villagers harvest rocks 65% faster
Gungans:+2 shields and villagers harvest food 70% faster
Trade Feds:Begin with 25% more resources(they are the merchants of the galaxy after all),but begin with 25% less villagers(that's 1 less villager),units have 15% less shields

Better yet, why not post that in a new thread ? I'm sure the civ-bonuses make for some great discussion.
