Based on the pictures availible on lucasarts.com I made a picture to give an impression of how the siege battledroid (what's it's name?) is animated ... watch it

Interesting, but wasn't that kinda self- explanatory?

But nonetheless, good work, looks good! :D

Don't take my first comment personally, I just kinda wondered how else they would open. :D

Well ... I need some more pictures for that. Creating them myself from that one single frame is a hard job.

What I meant is making it roll. I have one image where it's curled up. To make it roll I need at least 2 other curled up pictures and creating them is a tough job.

Uploading it to my webspace and linking to it here is easy.

Looks nice, what did you use to make that?

Alos, when you say seige so you mean that that is there "trebuchet" type weapon?

I use Animation Shop 3 to make animations. It's bundled with Paint Shop Pro 7. You can get a demo if you like at www.jasc.com)

Thanks, i'm downloading it now. Have you ever done anything with Flash or Dreamweaver? I've done alittle with each, but not much.

Noy yet. I'm someone who uses everything legal and I can't afford Flash and Dreamweaver.

But next year I'm gonna work with those programs at school on the i-mac ... So maybe there will be a day that I fulle use those.

Okay the animation technique aside,I think that little animation has just made me change from using droideka's to attack to using siege droids to attack(and maybe a couple droieka's). As more and more units come out for the federation, I am slowly building up the perfect attack force to utterly destroy an opponent.(can't wait for the game to come out so I can test my 'perfect attack force')

The perfect task force....50 ATATs, 50 TIEs, 50 Anti-Air troops, 25 Dark Troopers, 25 Villagers. Not that i like the imps, but that would be pretty devestating.

that's great and dandy, folks...
gee, i even have to WORK as a mod.. :D
back to the animation: does this make the TF-blaster cannon unit the only fast mobile unit out there ? I'd say it does. Makes them pack quite a punch and it looks like they're the civ to chose for rushing then...

So you think they are like the Zerg for GB?
You build them quick but the die just as quick?
I posted on topic :P to the rest of you!

don't mind if i do :D

i'm saying that this configuration of TF blaster cannons suggests that they can get heavy artillery to you very fast. Surely this unit is faster than an ATAT ??

I'm guessing maybe that siege droid could be the equivalent of the trebuchet. They both have to be deployed to fire and are pretty powerful when deployed. Could that be what it's function is?

That is what the function is ;)

Hopefully it will have a slow rate of fire? It could be fast (moving) and hits hard but not offten

But trebuchets took a pretty long time to unpack.
Do you think Siege BD's would be faster ?
 RogueJedi86

Well they said in a preview that the gameplay is faster so I'm betting it does deploy faster. Cuz it'd suck to have really fast gameplay everywhere except in deploying your big boys. And I'm going to bet that it's the equivalent of the AT-AT(maybe). Both sound superpowerful and stuff.

I'm betting that this is not the equivelant of the ATAT, as it is not a transport also. I think that the ATAT of the TF is the large Carriers we see in the movie. AAT Barge or something like that.

This will be the "blaster cannon" that will replace the trebuchet, or, i think it will be.

Leon Each side have Blaster artillery
a gungan possibility
http://www.heavengames.com/angels/aoerat/unitinfo.php?unit=Gungan%20Cannon)
They may or may not be as powerful in different areas. Trade Fed is not necessarily the best. Theirs may move faster than the rest but be less powerful. We won't know for a while so:p

Maybe it's just me, but that seems more like an anti-air turret than a laser cannon. Plus, the laser cannon can move, and that looks alot like a turret, so i doubt that's one, but it may be...

Just mirrored the top part ... The image is too smal for details so it doesn't look bad.

But the way it's firing now it's too fast to be siege. This way it's more like a rolling centrey gun.

Not a bad idea. Mobile sentry guns. They'd be good for defense and to scout/serve as an outpost. Just build a bunch and deploy them in random areas(in pairs;there's safety in numbers) to watch for enemy units and even weaken them a bit before they get to your base. And hey they'd even be good if they weren't sentry guns and were siege guns. They'd pack a good punch and if they have ranch larger than that of the enemy units, they just might kill a few of the men.

Remember Trebuchets for a second. They are not made for defence. They were made for SIEGE! You never saw one on the defensive unless they were desprate. Be cause they couldn't hit a moving units to sav their life!!!

But these are lasers and this is Star Wars. I've enver seen a laser miss its intended target, moving or not(except for the Stormies) so they must be able to hit. But rocks now are prone to miss cuz they take long to hit the target. And sorry but I'm always a more defensive guy. i was always the simp who became the computer's ally while my human ally attacked him(I was afraid of being destroyed too early;and in Starcraft I turtled as Zerg,a known failing course of action). But I still like putting up defensive units across the map. But they'd still do good to watch for enemy units going in the direction of your base.

Yeah, AOK was seriously lacking on defensive structures. They only had a guard tower and a Castle. I hope they put in alot more for GB.

Don't defend too much, attack. The enemy can break triough your defense no matter how good it is. And I've noticed that building walls only limits yourself. Going on the offense is the best defense.

I use towers and castels as a defense of my base and my forward base.

Some players (like me) prefer to dig in and let the enemy come to me. I can be pretty fast in building up defenses AND an army in AOK. Siege weapons (like that battle droid) would come into play only in the last push, i think..

Aha ... but that way you might destroy my army, but not my economy ... and if you don't hurt my economy I can build a new army in no time. Ofcourse you would have loses too, but maybe you can't restore them as quick because I did had a change to hurt your economy, especially in imperial when I take my trebuchets with me.

He's right. Attacking armies have the advantage of not rissking their village in the fihgt. If the defenders lose, the town is finishd. If the attackers loose, they just have to come back later.

I'm more agressive myself, but i just started playing. I thrive by sending wave after wave of troops into the enemy, they can't possibly withstand so many troops for such a long time.

Ironically, i have won practically all my multiplayer-battles by digging in.
You see, when a player rushed me, i withstood that. and the funny part was that they had neglected to get a decent economy up by concentrating on attacking so hard..
so the first time i attacked, it was with a huge force, and he would basically just have started building his second army.
It's the Leon-way of playing.. :D

Ido the same thing. They attack my built up defences like castle(I build them more than towers) and statigcally placed units:D
