So, I try to launch it for KOTOR1, and it just instantly closes, no error.

Any ideas? I'm running on Windows 8.1, and running it as an administrator.

All the log file says is that it found the save games folder

Also side note, at least for KOTOR1, Steam adds registry keys now.

I don't know why it does this, something to do with security I think.

What you can do is follow the instructions from here:
http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/478-dll-files-for-fair-strides-tools/)

Can you post the contents of the log file?

Also, did you try running as admin?

Is this KSE 3.3.4 or 3.3.5?

Was it kse_334.exe or kse_334_TJM.exe?

Did you try running the TJM.reg file?

Since I'm assuming you have three dll files in the folder where KSE is, I'd imagine you'll need to follow the instructions here:

Thanks for responding! But I don't really understand the instructions, you'll have to excuse my incompetence... I followed the instructions the best I could, but I have no idea if I'm doing it right.

1. I downloaded JRLEdit (whatever that is)
2. I extracted the DLL files from KSE to a folder (don't know if that was what I was supposed to do)
3. Went into the system settings/ Environment Variables and added the path to the folder to the Path thingy... I followed the steps basically, but nothing changed. The editor used to work by just clicking the program, but now it doesn't. I have Windows 8.1 if that has something to do with it, but I'm pretty sure I had that when it worked earlier... so..yeeah.:raise:

Nice work on the KSE otherwise, great program!:thmbup1:

Yeah, sorry. You don't need JRLEdit. That was just a placeholder for basically "download the program you are trying to use".

And did you restart your computer after you edited the Environment variables? If not, please do so. If so, then please double-check that the settings are still there.

If that still doesn't work, tell me the name and location of the folder on your computer (location being the full path to it) and then show me what you put into the Environment Variables, okay?

Hi! Sorry for the noobish question, but this works with Kotor 1, right? See, I'm having this problem where when I start KSE it says to locate the TSL installation directory, since I don't have TSL I click cancel and it just crashes. How do I fix this? Thanks!

This does work with KotOR 1, and I'm currently working on a new version that should get around your issue.

Thanks for doing this and for all the replies ... I feel I have tried everything and not had any luck - installed 3.5.3, the DLLs separately, the Reg file, etc ... and here is my log:

7/24/2015--23:32:14= KSE startup v3.3.5

7/24/2015--23:32:52= KSE could not find saves directory for KotOR2.

7/24/2015--23:32:53= KSE could not find any save games to edit. Termination.

7/24/2015--23:55:35= KSE startup v3.3.5

7/24/2015--23:56:31= KSE could not find saves directory for KotOR2.

7/24/2015--23:56:32= KSE could not find any save games to edit. Termination.

7/25/2015--22:19:33= KSE startup v3.3.5

7/25/2015--22:19:46= KSE startup v3.3.5

7/25/2015--22:20:15= KSE could not find saves directory for KotOR2.

7/25/2015--22:20:16= KSE could not find any save games to edit. Termination.

The location is the standard Steam directory, and I even manually seek it out each time.

Not sure if it matters, but I do NOT have KotOR installed, but DO have TSL. If it matters I can easily reinstall KotOR.

Thanjks!

Well, since you mentioned that you have the Steam version, I have to ask: Are you using the Cloud saves, or saving like normal?

If you're using the Cloud saves, there will be a cloudsaves folder in your TSL folder. You'd need to copy the cloud saves from inside the folder in your cloudsaves folder into a new folder in the main TSL folder called "saves".

I'm currently working on a version that allows for the Cloud saves.

Also, are you directing it to the steam folder itself, or the TSL folder inside the steamapps\common folder?

Drat - your reply went to my spam folder :(

Anyway - what I ended up doing was uninstalling the Steam version and installing off of GoG ... I pointed at that directory and BAM everything worked. I could then copy the edited game to my Mac Steam version and it worked great!

Thanks again for all the awesome support!
