Weird graphical problem with some modded skins.

I've noticed a weird vertical black line running straight down the middle of the face for some reskins I've downloaded. I took a look at the texture in gimp, but could not see how to fix it. I don't see where this black line could be coming from. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Lot's of in-game models just have that line and I really don't know of a way to fix it. In my opinion it's not so annoying and I can live with it, but I can see how it's annoying to lots of other people.

If you look at how the texture is mapped in gimp, the texture for the face is only half, which causes the black line. The texture is mirrored once uv-mapped onto the model. They do this so that the face is symmetrical. However, if they just make a full face texture, the black line will seemingly dissapear.

That makes sense. Well I have access to half of the face, so could I make a full face texture from it?

That's not why. If that were so, then 1. all heads would have the line and 2. all body models would also have the line; they are half-mapped too.

It seems that it only happens with certain computers, too.

Somebody on another forum suggested to use gimp to clone stamp the edge of the texture to extend it. Could that make a difference? I'm still figuring out how to use gimp.

I know at least when I started using TSL I was having this issue, specifically with the red haired female face. I was on lowest texture pack and resolution. Switching to medium resolution & texture pack sometimes helps. Though not always. Just my :twocents:.

I switched to the highest resolution and it did minimize it, but it's still there. I'm already using the highest texture pack and all graphics settings on max.
